Need help OC'ing an i5 3570k on a Asus P8Z77-V Lk

Thread Starter
Greetings,

I'm looking for the safest and easiest way to overclock my new "second hand" CPU.

I know that many guide are online but none give me working result (i'm getting that windows 10 blue screen whit that unhappy face)

here's my build.

GTX 1070 gigabyte G1
i5 3570k 3.4hz
Asus P8Z77-V Lk (bios update to 1402)
Corsair h100i v2
Corsair vengeance 2x4 DDR3-1600 CL9-9-9-24 Dual Channel Memory Kit
Sound Blaster Recon3D PCIe
Antec HCG M HCG-750M 750W ATX12V
BenQ XL2420T monitor at 120hz

On windows 10 64 bit.

I've read many guides, and they are all saying different things.

My goal is to reach a consistent 120 fps at BF4.

I've been in the bios like for two hour and on my cell phone, trying to understand whats PLL, voltage, X.M.P., multiplier, ect.. really means and what setting are working together.

Ill be really happy if someone can just tell me what's setting to set to optimize my system considering that i'm watercooled.

Thanks,

so i'm still learning that
System properties dont show the real cpu speed..

i've just installed CPU-Z and run Prime95 (stock)

what temps should i under prime95 exercise ?

should i go play with manual voltage ?

Thanks

(feel free to ask questions if mine aren't clear)

Do i need to re-install my cpu eatsink ?

is it too hot ?

does voltage or pll setting that i'm not sure what to do with need to be set to another value ? (since i didn't touch anything of these settings)

thanks again

Hello

That voltage is very high! yo will kill that chip soon rolleyes.gif

Rest the bios and Enable XMP profile then set the cpu load line calibration to level 6 and cpu current capability to 140% ( or highest value there ) and power phase control to Optimized..

then the core multiplayer to 44 and the core voltage to 1.300v.. Save the setting and try Prime95 for 2h if pass push the multiplayer farther if BSOD then push the voltage a little more..

Stay under 1.36v on that cpu.. thumb.gif

Rest = Reset (F5) all default value ?

Not sure if its different on the LK to my model but 'Extreme' is the highest LLC level I have. If so, you will want the level below the top which is Ultra High, as the Extreme setting will push through more voltage then you set in BIOS, I found Ultra high gives closest to the value set manually.

Just another tip, you mentioned CPU PLL, leave it at auto until youre sure its stable then lower it later. Some people say they can set it as low as 1.5 but I found my chip/board didnt like anything below 1.65 with my settings. All lowering PLL does is lower your temperatures by a couple of degrees.

i've done everything been said.

Can i assume now that everything is "set" ?
(i dont think so)

while running prime95 and writing this post, i just got BSOD

so ill go to 1.310 volt now ?
do i have to do special setting on the first pop-up in prime95 or i only have to run it for 2h straight ?

thanks again.

Okay ... on my GTX 1070 from gigabyte. i have a "Fan Stop" indicator on the card itself, usually, the fan stop logo light is turned off when im running games. and for some reason, since i have OC,my CPU, it looks like that light is always on, even while playing games ...

nvm, playing bf1 beta just didn't trigger it. Doom does.
