Oh, so you need the protector. What if you used the protector after using a regular contact cleaner? Like say if you already own a bunch of contact cleaner (that'd be me lol).
Don't know. I never did that.
But from experience the Deoxit cleaner works much better than regular cleaner, so you might be just protecting an inferior cleaning job.
