Hi there.

I have a Gaming X 1060 and by default the fan does not spin till it reaches 60C. Normally idles around 38C. But I noticed in the Afterburner graph, that the fan starts when it hits 60C then stop intermittently whenever <60, so it starts / stop a lot.

I read that I should avoid step curve as it causes frequent fan speed switching that cause more wear on the fan than running steadily at a fixed speed.

If I were to set a linear fan curve with Afterburner, what curve should I set to avoid frequent fan speed changes?

This is my current setting:

Is it better to let the fans spin up when it reaches 50C or 60C?

I've read that frequent temperature changes from hot to cold makes the components expand/shrink and shorten the card's lifespan. Would a margin of 40C idle to 60C-70C load cause this?

Thanks.
