Of course I'm not. That's a stupid question. As an enthusiast this new line of higher hz monitors are intriguing. And, should spark some sort of conversation about them.
Since we are seeing the start of 165hz monitors (using ips no less) the question remains if that is going to be the start of many more to come. Furthermore, will 165hz start to be the norm as was 120hz years ago before 144hz? Once we go past 165hz what will be the diminishing point of return?
I've watched a few videos with people using 144hz monitors to play bf3/bf4. They don't appear to know they need frame rates 144 fps or higher in order to know if they see a difference or not. As average frame rates were +/- 100 or so.
Since we are seeing this wave of higher hz monitors will it become the norm? Ask yourself this; how often do people upgrade monitors if their existing one is working just fine? I believe is far less then they upgrade gpus/cpus. Also, are people really seeing a difference with 165hz monitors? I sure would like to know.
I wanted to add that the Viewsonic XG2703 27-inch 2560x1440 IPS will be the 1st free sync, 165hz, ips monitor. No eta on it yet but will be interesting to know what kind of range it will have. I do hope it will go up to 165hz in freesync.Edited by EastCoast - 9/1/16 at 12:16pm
