So what constitutes a "gen" change? Lithography? Any time they change the "code name"? Or when the first digit of the model number jumps by one?

Architecture. GTX480 to 580 was like 290X to 390X. They just refined the core to have full Fermi. GTX780 Ti was the large die Kepler. GTX680 was same architecture as 780 just smaller card.

Well I'm waiting back on a gtx970 for a smoking deal, still considering a 780 or 960 though also. You all have been a great deal of help, couldn't ask for a better community. I'm getting tired of my corsair 800d any mini cases that fit a 360 and a 240?

Not really. I am stuck with my Switch 810 because nothing first 240 + 360 + HDDs without going bigger. If you WC consider 290/290X. They are faster then 780 or 780 Ti and have 4GB.

GTX 960 is too weak for WQHD ... at least a GTX780Ti GTX970 for that, or better a GTX980/GTX1060 6GB.

A smaller Case which would fit a 360 and 240 Radiator: Thermaltake Core X31 ... looks like a Caselabs Clone.tongue.gif

I can hit 3GB VRAM easy on R6 Siege, 3.8GB with 2x MSAA enabled.

The only reason I never recommend 780/Ti since they typically have a bit of premium over something like 7950/7970

awesome! jealous. Bet that thing is awesome too.

Just an FYI , prices have dropped! 97$ free shipping for a x5675. you notice a huge difference in performance gain. if you do decide to do this. update your BIOS to the most up to date before you install it biggrin.gif

Nice! That will be a solid system. Basically the same as my sig rig below, haven't had any complaints about it myself. Just keeps chugging along, eating every task i throw at it. Honestly, i wouldnt dream of replacing it with anything else on the market now, unless it died. Only thing it lacks in my eyes is UEFI for quick boot feature.

I had a GTX970 in that rig for a bit when Fallout 4 first came out... about a month later, i picked up an EVGA 780 FTW for under 150. Tried it out... In alot of cases, i think the 780 actually does better than my 970 did @ 2560x1440. Ended up putting the GTX970 in my Pentium g3258 HTPC instead. Should do you good for a minute, especially if you are staying 1080p for a bit.

Also, if you dont mind spending a couple bucks more on the cpu then check out W3680's. They are unlocked multiplier chips, basically 980x's with ECC support. thumb.gif
