Upgrading to a AMD FX-6350

I haven't played video games in a long while but overwatch has my attention. I'm having trouble running it. I'm running it at 1280x768 60hz and all low settings and I am only getting 30 fps max and as low as 19-25 when there is alot going on. So I figure my cpu is my bottleneck and I thinking about upgrading to a AMD FX-6350. Do need to upgrade my psu as well? Preferable I would keep it to keep costs down.

Mobo: ASUS M4A785TD-V EVO/U3S6
CPU: AMD X2 555 BE
GPU: ASUS GeForce GTX 950 STRIX 2GB
Mem: G.SKILL Ripjaws CL9 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR3 1600
PSU: Corsair CX430
HDD: SSD and 2x 3TB 5200RPM HDDs

CPU Boss - AMD Phenom II X2 555 vs FX 6350

You may want to consider that an FX 6350 is not supported by your motherboard.

That board would be good with a 965BE, a 1055T or even an Athlon II X4. It isn't going to work with any FX cpu.

The two posters above, explained that your motherboard can't support ANY of the current AMD CPUs. In order to use an FX CPU, you 'd have to buy new motherboard. Your motherboard can support up to Phenom x6 1090T (possible 1100T too, but it's not explicitely mentioned), which you will have to find from 2nd hand market, since it's out of production since 2011.

If you intend to change motherboard too, then the most cost-effective solution is to get an FX 83xx (the cheapest model you can find, usually 8300 or 8320E) and overclock it yourself (it's very easy, assuming you get a decent motherboard). Second best is get FX6300 and again overclock it yourself (no reason to get 6350. Any FX CPU can overclock to 4Ghz without any effort).

In any case, you will not need to change PSU.

In that store specifically the FX-6350 is cheaper than the FX-6300 so I'd go for it if he wants a 6-core.

What is needed is a new motherboard and it seems that it has not understood or at least has not said anything.

Did you try tu unlock cores from your Phenom II x2 555 BE?

It's pretty much the same as a Phenom II x4 955/965, and maybe you could overclock it a bit too...

Yeah, I tried a long time ago, didn't work. I remember I even bought that specific mobo because it was doable.
