Need help choosing between GTX 1060 3GB or RX 480 8GB variant.

Main reason why I'm choosing between is the price...

GTX 1060 (regular 6GB) in my country are ~350euro's, there's few stock cooler RX 480's 8GB for 300-320e.
And I can order online from Germany Palit's GTX1060 with dual fan design for 184e (with taxes and shipping) coming around 255e.

So there's thing I'm unsure about. What do you recommend? Between stock RX 480 8GB variant for 300e or order Palit's GTX 1060 for 250e.

Any thoughts, suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Regards!

I'd get the Palit 1060 @ 250. It'd be the best performance card at that price. What games do you play or are you intending to play with the said card ?

I'm mostly playing Path of Exile, which isn't demanding at all... but from time to time I fire up things like Witcher 3, Fallout 4, Dragon Age Inquisition. Don't really need high or any AA settings, and wont' change my monitor anytime soon, so I'm locked at 1080p. Rest of the setup is 2500k and 8GB of ram of the more important bits.

You should be golden with a GTX1060 at that price.

Tough call, I guess the 1060 3gb is the better deal at those prices. Have you looked at the prices of some last generation cards? Like a GTX980 would provide similar performance and get you the extra 1gb vram.

I'd say the RX 480 has the edge in vulkan and dx12. Having more vram also is always a plus when considering future games.

As a 6gb 1060 owner I would vote for the 470/480...

Mainly due to almost maxing out the 6gb Vram already and I haven't even really began installing many mods since the install.
Though I am playing at 1440p and am a sucker for mods.

I got the 1060 as it was cheaper than 480's at the time but I am already starting to regret it.

Please keep in mind the 1060 3gb card is not as fast as the 1060 6gb and the 3gb of vram does limit you... And by not as fast I man not just cut down on clock speed, it actually is a disabled chip and should not be labeled a 1060 but nvidia went and did it anyways. Should be a 1050ti at best.

https://youtu.be/y1RWItff0eQ?t=5m29s

I skipped to that part for the conclusion as they discuss some issues with it. When you hit that limit (which is easy to do these days) even the RX470 surpasses it in a game that runs far better on nvidia typically.

30% performance loss... it was slower than the 1060 6gb by 20fps at the same settings/res and even the 470 was 10fps ahead of it..

480 8gb, 480 4gb or 1060 6gb only. 1060 3gb is not worth it at all.

So even considering 50e difference in my case, and me not caring about AA (be it TXAA, SMAA or w/e)... ?

In this case, I would have to vote for the RX 480 8GB, especially if the GTX 1060 6GB is more expensive. Same price, I would get the 1060 6GB.

Stay away from the 1060 3GB. It's a gimped card compared to either of the models listed above and will not age well.
