One I got has Samsung apparently according to gpu-z. What is the difference? Is samsung the preferred choice? I don't plan on overclocking as I find the performance adequate enough for the games that I play so really isn't going to factor for me. So I guess if you want the samsung vram and are in the U.S. order from Jet, if you don't, stay away from Jet.com.

I don't think the Micron memory has trickled its way down to any 1060s yet. I haven't seen any reports of it anyway. The Gigabyte ITX OC model I bought a few days ago has Samsung.

MSI Gaming X GTX1060 6GB smile.gif. I can get +155/+700 at 108% but my CPU is limiting its output even at 4.2GHz.

Hey GTX 1060 owners,

We are having our monthly Foldathon from Monday 17th - 19th 12noon EST.
Would you consider putting all that power to a good cause for those 2 days? If so, come sign up and fold with us - see attached link.

October Foldathon

To get started:

1.Get a passkey (allows for speed bonus) - need a valid email address
http://fah-web.stanford.edu/cgi-bin/getpasskey.py

2.Download the folding program:
http://folding.stanford.edu/

Enter your folding name (mine is the same as my OCN name)
Enter your passkey
Enter Team OCN number - 37726

So, is there a consensus on which ones can overclock and undervolt? I may pick one up around Black Friday.

I looked on EK waterblocks' site and it seems that some MSI PCBs are really shoddy (with a cheap cooler and non-high air flow bracket) such as this one for the GTX 1060 6GB 6GT OC 6GB GDDR5 ( V809-2205R) with the jet fighter thing on the box:
https://www.ekwb.com/configurator/step1_complist?gpu_gpus=2136

2nd source : https://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/MSI/GTX_1060_OC/3.html

These two MSI cards supposedly use the GTX 1080 PCB ( GTX 1060 6GB Armor 6G 6GB GDDR5 , GTX 1060 6GB Armor 6G OC 6GB GDDR5 (V328-002R))
https://www.ekwb.com/configurator/step1_complist?gpu_gpus=2103

MSI Gaming GTX 1060 6GB also seems to use the same GTX 1080-based PCB:
https://www.ekwb.com/configurator/step1_complist?gpu_gpus=2102

At the same time Newegg's cheaper MSI Armor GTX 1060 OCV1 has this cheaper PCB
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814137040

That said the EVGA short PCB is similarly spartan in nature , pretty close to reference if not reference: https://www.ekwb.com/configurator/step1_complist?gpu_gpus=2128

Gigabyte PCB for GV-N1060D5-6GD : https://www.ekwb.com/configurator/step1_complist?gpu_gpus=2106

Alternate source http://www.hardwareasylum.com/reviews/video/gv_n1060d5-6gd/page3.aspx
Gigabyte source stating 6+1 power for GeForce® GTX 1060 D5 6G (GV-N1060D5-6GD) http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=5983#kf
* Windforce GV-N1060WF2OC-6GD stated as 4+1

Gigabyte GTX 1060 6GB G1 Gaming 6G 6GB GDDR5 (GV-N1060G1 GAMING-6GD) seems to use GTX 1080 PCB
also the https://www.ekwb.com/configurator/step1_complist?gpu_gpus=2105
* Gigabyte source stating 6+1 power http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=5958

ASUS GTX 1060 STRIX

source 2 http://www.hardwareluxx.de/index.php/artikel/hardware/grafikkarten/39965-drei-modelle-der-geforce-gtx-1060-von-asus-evga-und-inno3d-im-test.html?start=3
6+1 according to their site https://www.asus.com/us/ROG-Republic-Of-Gamers/ROG-STRIX-GTX1060-O6G-GAMING/ , https://www.asus.com/us/Graphics-Cards/ROG-STRIX-GTX1060-6G-GAMING/

Needs to be apples to apples, i.e. ASUS Gaming Strix vs EVGA FTW vs vs Gigabyte G1 Gaming ; ASUS Dual vs EVGA SC vs MSI regular OC version vs Gigabyte regular OC version

As far as watercooling goes, OCUK has the following:
ASUS GeForce GTX 1060 Strix OC https://www.overclockers.co.uk/asus-geforce-gtx-1060-strix-oc-6144mb-water-cooled-graphics-card-wc-15b-tl.html
Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1060 G1 Gaming https://www.overclockers.co.uk/gigabyte-geforce-gtx-1060-g1-gaming-water-cooled-graphics-card-wc-15c-tl.html
MSI GTX 1060 6G Gaming X https://www.overclockers.co.uk/msi-geforce-gtx-1060-6g-gaming-x-water-cooled-graphics-card-wc-15a-tl.html

Reference PCB , not suitable for watercooling:

I've been pretty impressed with the Gigabyte ITX OC I picked up last week. I previously had an EVGA SC and the Gigabyte card runs a good 8-9 degrees cooler, whilst being just as quiet and overclocking just as well. I'd be interested to see the PCB and underside of the cooler, though nobody seems to have taken one apart anywhere (indeed, it's hard to find any information on it at all). It's definetly a custom board, as even with the cooler on you can see it has a very different layout to the reference design (which the SC also uses). The fan header is on the right edge for a start. The cooler also has two heatpipes like the G1 Gaming model. The standard dual fan Windforce model only has a single heatpipe, like the cheapest MSI one.

Hey,
I've been running World Community Grid for years. Is this different? Any reason for me to switch? smile.gif

It is the same in the sense that the compute goes to a good cause thumb.gif The FAT last just for 2 days and this month we are trying to break our goal which I believe is 110 million points. So any contributions you can make are greatly appreciated. Plus, we have Folding milestone badges and Folding Postbits.

BTW - did you sign up for this month BOINCers gone Bonkers? See link in my sig.
