I decided to test Doom today. These are in-game, Ultra, 1080p, same scene. I try to play it the same every time. biggrin.gif

In my opinion, forget DX12....Vulkan is the way to go!

Yea, stock cooler. Everything is stock except for the power limit. I always crank it up to max. Power limit is always at 116%, benchmarks and gaming. I may adjust the fans when I'm gaming. I don't really OC though. I just do my OC's when trying for high benchmark scores, or comparison.

I ran some tests last night using the voltage slider. To be honest, adding no voltage at all scored just as well. In fact, if I went to 100% on the slider, my scores actually came down a little. So if you are going to use added voltage, either use the Voltage/Freq table in AB(if you do it that way, set it to 100%), or just add maybe 50 on the slider if you are adding manual clocks in AB. I mean you can try it, it might be different for everyone else's card. I can just tell you what my experience's are with this card.

So crank the core, memory, power limit, and keep the card as cool as possible. Should yield some nice scores/fps. thumb.gif

Everyone puts a premium on FPS, but to me frame times are more important. Stuttering and screen tearing drive me nuts. I would rather give up some FPS for smoother game play. biggrin.gif

I see it's hitting the power limit. Dang nVidia! mad.gif

Funny, I had two 970's both MSI, love them both. I still have the good oc'er. It will hit like 1600/8400 with my custom bios on it. I think that is like 1.31v though. You can't really tell, because all the software will only show 1.275 max.

is there any change that there will come a custom bios for the 1060?

I can't get a bios to flash on my AMD rig. For some reason it just won't, other wise I would have tuned it via bios and made it a permanent part of the card. Core adjustments and fan profiles. Others are having the same issues I am so I'm not alone. I understand it's not a problem on Intel rigs.

I don't think there are "custom" bios'. You may be able to flash one from another card perhaps.

In the 900 series there was the MBT(Maxwell Bios Tweaker), you could change just about everything other than the voltage limit. The cards were 1.31v(some were hard locked lower). You could change everything else though. The first thing was raise the Pw Limit, and get rid of boost. Voltages, core speeds, memory speeds, fans, etc., could be changed. I still have one of my 970's. I could put it it right now, and run 1506/8000 all day.....then flash it back to stock in minutes, or got the other way and raise the speeds. lol

If someone knows where to get a custom bios....then they need to post the heck out of it. lol

Well after messing around in MSI AB, I finally got a static clock of 2100mhz on the core....@1.000v! I let Valley and Heaven run for a few minutes and let the clocks/voltage settle down. I then ran the benchmarks. I think the clocks started at 2126mhz around 1.050v.

I forgot to turn on the sound in Valley, but Heaven does have it...lol No throttling...no drop in speed, no increase/decrease in voltage.

EDIT: Just played a round of BF1...same settings. Core stayed at 2113@1.000v. smile.gif
