Some Single-Core and Multi-Core benchmarks using two of AMD's much touted 32core/64thread sever CPUs on one board with 128gb of memory. Processors are very likely early engineering samples because of the low clock speed and Simultaneous Multithreading disabled.

To be fair the clockspeed on Intel's high core count Xeon's is always pretty low ( 2.2ghz for 22 cores on the E5-2699 v4) AND depending on the TDP there are low power server applications that do great with high core counts and comparatively low clockspeeds.

I think AMD needs is a super advanced Turbo function, that would allow the CPU to run much faster if it's not completely loaded. Say 3.0ghz if only 16 cores were active. A best of both worlds... high clock speeds at low utilization, lower clockspeeds when maxed out.

The E5-2699 v4 is a $4,000+ part too.

Seems weird to me.
My mac pro is doing 34% better with just 8/16 CPU. Unless this is either fake or really early buggy CPUs, this isn't giving me much hope.

For a part with 64 cores, no SMT, no L3 cache running at 1.44 ghz this would seem more like an ARM server CPU than a Zen engineering sample.

Perhaps AMD hasn't ditched their ARM effort yet.

EDIT: Missed the x86_64 note in the distro used. Maybe a Xeon-D type CPU.
