Its pretty bad when a non developer (me) could have walked in there and said "Make it be like this guys" and it would have been loads better, in terms of combat. But its the witcher, I really didn't expect anything different. They've never had worthwhile combat. Just my .02, maybe for some people its fun or challenging.
You must be playing on easy.... Or you're just a biased Dark Souls fan *leaning towards this one, it's obvious at your blatant lie of an example*

You must be playing Assassins Creed II as The Witcher 3 does not have those AI ways of fighting.

Witcher games have always made it a point to overwhelm the player with numbers. For the most part that's the only way they attempt challenge. Not a good design I might add.

Facts? The Witcher 3 > whatever game you think is better. Reviewers opinion > yours. CD Projekt RED's Witcher team > your designs.

The only thing I took from Dark Souls into Witcher 2 and 3 is to just jump away from enemies and stab them in the back. Back stabbing is always the worst.

But, yeah, although not perfect, The Witcher 3 has been the only game to really impress me in the past few years.

So CDPR can take their grand time on Cyberpunk.

They're one of the few devs currently BUILDING trust with gamers.

I think my only gripe with the combat as it is now (wants and desires aside), is that the enemy you're in the middle of slashing away at just brushes it off and continues to damage you, they dont get stunned like the player does. Its like with FPSs, shoot an enemy in the head and he just continues spray away at you like its nothing.

But either way, the combat is nothing special (its not Dark Souls hard), not even really challenging in is own right. You can play the game by just dodging and slashing though it may take awhile to wear stronger adversaries down, but thats it.

You serious ? In real life no group of people attack all at the same time, they wait until you drop one guy until the next one gets the green light to step up to you. Go see Road House if you need to educate yourself on that.

Witcher 3's AI is nothing special... but Dark Souls is objectively bad in the AI department. There is no getting around that.

Enemies in Witcher DO tend to not wait for you. Less they bug out of their already limited AI....

I like numbers, but it is not the only way they do it. Later game enemies do have better AI or more complex move-sets, with HOS and BaW being a full head and shoulders above the base game with combat design. It ain't hard to be fair, but it is stopping repetition somewhat.

You guys really need to expand your gaming culture. Dark Souls hard is... fairly difficult, but not the unbeatable challenge people make it out to be. There are titles, especially in the strategy genre, that are simply harder and require more skill tongue.gif.

Also the GFX downgrade is not a big deal. The story/character/themes downgrade however - is.

Lol, sorry, but no. Dark Souls ai actually exists, wheres the witchers ai is like water going down a drain, it circles inwards to the player, then attacks, runs away, rinse repeat.

Witcher AI is the rpg equivalent of the FPS genre ai.

You an literally button mash your way through the witcher, you cant do that with Dark Souls.

You are again confusing difficulty with AI. The two are unfortunately, not directly tied together (and lol Dank Souls is easy compared to so many strategy games...).

I do agree that Dark Souls AI exists. They can move and navigate the world, engage in context and position-sensitive combos, but tactically and strategically, it is from 1997. Inferior to Half Life 1, in FPS terms (which isnt that bad, most modern games are worse than HL1 in the AI department).

Strictly speaking, it does exist. If we were to compare it to good FPS AI from STALKER or FEAR...well the difference is gigantic and not in DS's favour.
