Asus P5B Deluxe Wifi not showing correct memory size

Thread Starter
It shows a total of 2.93 gig of ram (instead of 4 gig) and thats in bios also.

However CPUZ will show the correct sizes.

Is there something I need to flash to my bios for it to see the 4 gb or a setting I am overlooking

This might be an obvious answer, but if you ever tried taking the ram out, booting the system, *let it error* and put the ram back in...

Somehow I've noticed it to sort of reset the Ram or what not, works, but not always. Try that...

Then, if it doesnt work try this:

Take 2 gb's out, load it up see if it shows everything fine, if not try the other stick... might be a faulty stick you never know.
Just double check both sticks, put one in, then the other see if the specs are the same for both.

I'll try removing it, but i've ran memtest and Orthos with no faults (see my 6400 stable thread)

I think windows doesn't like the 4 gig

Yes theres a mem hole in xp which in ur case u have over 3GB ram xp will in some cases only show up 3GB if the user has 4GB this isnt a problem in cp 64bit and vista but nothing to worry about
post #5 of 10
You'd need the 64-bit version of Windows for the full 4GB to show I believe. Otherwise it won't.

Shouldn't the Bios show the correct amount? CPUZ shows both sticks correctly (when I select them by slot)

The p5b won't show 4 gigs. It's somewhere in the manual. I had the same problem a while back.

The P5B Deluxe and just about every motherboard will show 4GB and more when using the correct Operating System.

Don't you know that the P5B Deluxe.......I mean every single motherboard with a P965 chispet supports up to 8GB of RAM? So seeing the full amount of RAM it's easy, just as long as you're using the proper Operating System.

It's not the MoBo.....think OS, and btw, Windows XP is limited to a 1.5TB as well, any more than that won't be recognized.
