Replacement for Kana v2

Thread Starter
I didn't get an answer in the suggestions thread, so I try my luck here instead:

I'm looking for a new mouse, but it's very difficult to find the right one, so that's why I reach out to you smile.gif

What's your grip style?
I'm switching between claw and fingertip on vertical movements during gaming.

What's your sensitivity?
I'd say medium (2.4/400 dpi/500 hz in CS:GO)

What's your maximum budget?
80/90 Euros

Do you want additional buttons?
Only side-buttons, but not required.

What games do you play?
CS:GO

Do you mind about prediction?
I don't want prediction at all for exact tracking (I'm a semi-pro player).

Other relevant information:
I'm currently using a Kana v2 (glossy-white) since 2013 and I'm really satisfied with it, but I feel like I could replace it with something better, since the sensor isn't the best and it was more or less a low-/mid-budget mouse by SteelSeries since then. So new mouse should have a similar shape and size and a light clicking for spamming like the Kana v2. Also a glossy surface is really good for me, because my hands are most of the time dry and the glossy surface gives me a good grip.

I've already tried out these mouses:
  • 2016 September: SteelSeries Rival 300 (glossy-white)
  • 2016 April: Zowie FK2 (2016 version)
  • 2016 January: Zowie FK2 (old version)
  • 2015 December: Zowie ZA12 (old version)
  • 2015 December: Zowie ZA13 (old version)
  • 2015 December: Zowie EC2-A
  • 2015 May: Zowie FK1
  • 2015 May: Zowie FK2
  • 2014 December: Zowie EC2 eVo
  • 2014 August: SteelSeries Rival
  • 2014 May: Zowie FK
  • 2013 August: SteelSeries Sensei (raw)
  • 2012 July: Zowie AM

The SteelSeries mouses didn't had the right shape and the Zowie mouses either had a bad shape or/and the clicking was too hard. Only the Zowie FK2 has a very similar shape like the Kana v2, but the clicking was too hard for me as well. I couldn't get used to it.

I've been using these mouses before the Kana v2:
  • Kana v1 (glossy-white)
  • Kinzu v1
  • MS Intelli 1.1

I feel like there is no other mouse that can replace the Kana v2, so any suggestions are really helpful!

Edit: I just read about the Rival 100, but the sensor seems to be really awful.

I guess you could try the Logitech G Pro. Comparing Kana V2 and the G Pro, there's differences between the shapes and what your fingers do on the right side of the mouse, but that might be fine. I like both a lot.

100% get the g pro OR if you can return it easily, get a dm 1 pro S and see if you get a good unit (some units have click problems, depends if you get lucky or not)

I'm in literally the exact same situation as you, love the kana shape and used it for years, now i'm on the fk2 but the clicks are the worst I've ever used.

my g pro is coming in a month sadly :\ but from all the review I've read, and from using the sensor in the g303, I highly recommend it.

dm 1 pro s is same shape as kana, just a bit bigger, great sensor and clicks, but logitech has way better quality control than dream machines, so that's why you should only get it if you can easily get a replacement/return it.

good luck my fellow kana user. (and f... steelseries for the joke that is the rival 100)

Rival 100 sensor is fine at 500 CPI. Shape is a much bigger factor than the sensor. If you can tolerate the lift off distance of the Kana v2, 500 CPI at 2D environment and knowing that you are not using the best available sensor then Rival 100 could be fine for you.

I have a G Pro and I prefer the Rival 100 due to much better shape-grip compatibility. You could be totally fine with the G Pro, it is just much smaller in size.

I dont think there is a replacement for kana v2 at all right now. DM1 Pro and Nixeus Revel are sensei clones, which are the same shape but slightly bigger. And G Pro is like... i dunno, why suggest the egg shape mouse to a person who has hourglass shape mouse for several years?

Plus, kana v2 actually has 5M omrons, not 20M like most mice right now. And 5Ms feel much better for spamming (at least for me).

Tbh i was interested in Rival 100, but i don't see how going from 3090 to 3050 can be considered an upgrade.

He said doesn't mind the fk2 shape, so I assume he's similar to me in that I just want a small light ambi mouse.

The g pro shape isn't super different from the g100s and I didn't mind it's shape but the sensor kept malfunctioning.

I take everything I said back, I hate the G Pro's shape, too high of a rear and the sides have a whole different feel. (favorite shape is kana).

get a revel instead. (I have a DM 1 and it feels bigger on all sides than a kana, that's why I ordered a Revel and I'm waiting for it)

Yeah well, it really depends on the user. I like ZA12-13, FK2, Rival 100, Kinzu and Kana shapes but I just can't claw grip the G Pro properly. DM1 PRO S and Sensei are both too big for me. G Pro is a bit different shape than the G100s so I wouldn't say everyone who is ok with G100s is ok with the G Pro. But that obviously completely depends on the user and they have to test the shape themselves to find it out.

Well, Kana and FK2 are very close in shape. However G100s and Pro are totally different from Kana.

Nixeus Revel is a tad smaller then the Sensei and quite similar to an FK2/Kana in size. If he wants to keep the same shape, it's a good option and better performance then Zowie/SS mice imo.

HOLY... You opened my eyes. Please tell me Revel is not wider than Kana at the most narrow point.
