Power Supply Recommendations - Page 3

I'm telling you Dan, you won't need to use both CPU power connectors because your CPU will never need all that power.

I have to admit that I'm beginning to feel a little hurt that you won't listen. It's almost like you came here with the intention of asking for advice and then ignoring all advice you're given and just doing what you want anyway. So fine, it's your money. You will be able to test it for yourself. Try running your system with just one CPU power connector connected and you will see that it will work just fine and you will say "damn, I should've listened to you." Hell, you will be able to run it with just 4 pins connected - but hey, what do I know right?

Thread Starter
TC,

I think I made my position on this pretty clear, so I'm not sure why you're pressing the issue. Not only did I agree that your assertion is almost certainly correct, but I also gave the reasons that I am generally unwilling to ignore the recommendations from the motherboard manufacturer. Furthermore, I came here asking for recommendations on a PSU model that met my stated requirements. I did not ask for advice regarding alternative models that would compromise one or more of my previously stated criteria, nor did I ask for advice regarding actual power needs of this system. Seeing as how there are actually a small variety of potential candidates that meet or exceed all of my criteria I see little reason to make any compromises simply to save a few bucks.

In an effort to help anyone in the future who may have a similar question I felt it was important to show what my decision was and why I made it. You're welcome to keep insisting that other viable alternatives exist if you want, but I believe I stated my position as well as I possibly can.
