I guess we all need to watch what we say about crappy companies making crappy games from now on. I hope the judge hands them their butt.

Most likely.

With enough bad press already before the extended lawsuit, they weren't going to sell games well. So this is most likely the last chance to get some money before they kill their studio, and later try and open a new one with a new name.

Having read the title and reading the quoted paragraph, i was thinking how this all reminded me of those idiot indie devs trying to sue Jim Sterling for criticism. Then i read the name of the indie dev and i burst with laughter!

It boggles my mind how someone can be so stupid. If they had at least tiny bit of brain they would shut up and try to distant themselves from the BS they have created. Then maybe, BIG MAYBE, they would've been able to develop a new game in the future and people would not judge them by their past failures. But as it stands, these devs have no chance in gaming industry now biggrin.gif

Given that Digital Homicide has been removed from Steam and is probably never going to be allowed back, I'm guessing this is the only time consumer reviews will ever be legally contested by developers.
Woah, I just did a bit of research and this "company" is a total mess.

  • Their website (digitalhomicide.ninja) looks like one of those pages teenagers would do back in the early 00s.
  • Their games are literally built using premade props from unity store, and most things dont really work. Like the most basic level transition is a mistery to them....
  • Then I found a very interesting conversation between Jim Sterling (the guy being sued) and Robert Romine (Founder of Digital Homicide) here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gyEr4sg9SCo

At this point what I wanted to know are the names of everyone in digital homicide so I could avoid games from their future studios ...

I hope I don't get sued frown.gif

Honestly, how in the hell can these devs think this will go anywhere positive? I guess they're just not thinking at all.
I hope the judge laughs them out of the courthouse, based on the fact that they are trying to sue people for negative reviews of crap games.

aaaand their games are off steam.

play stupid games win stupid prizes.

The problem with this is that because the people named in the lawsuit are consumers and purchased a product, they should be protected under the First Amendement (freedom of speech).

Link: http://www.firstamendmentcenter.org/when-online-reviews-lead-to-lawsuits

It's a controversial item, but I would be highly surprised if this case isn't thrown out before it even goes to trial.
