Evga 1050w GS Failure Thread.

Thread Starter
These power supplies seem to have an issue where after a few months to a little over a year where they stop allowing the PC to be turned on unless the power cord is pulled for 1-2min.

My PSU ran for almost a year without issue. I turned off the PC to swap some HDDs around and it would not boot back up. The red 5v standby light on the mobo was not on.
It's been happening about 1/2 the time now when I turn it off and try to turn it back on.

This seems to be a more common problem that EVGA is letting us believe.

Have you had this problem?
How long before the problem started?
Basic PC specs?

does this only apply to the GS model? I have a 1000w supernova G2 over a year now and have not had this issue.

It appears to be limited to the 1050 GS from what I've been reading.

I'll keep an eye on mine.
back when I bought mine EVGA recalled them for a overheating issue, I didn't have
mine installed yet so it was an easy swap for me but it was still a bummer to have to
ship it back for a new one.

I bought a 2nd one about 2 weeks before my original one started having issues.

It's been used in a HTPC with 13hdds and a c2d cpu.

It just failed.

EVGA is getting a nasty phone call tomorrow. mad.gif

My original one was bought sep 19 2015. It started having issues after almost exactly a year.

Turn PC off, and the only way it will turn back on is to pull the power plug for 30s-2min.

The other one is completely dead after 2 weeks.

Looks like I purchased mine back in July of 2015, but I will say that I almost never turn my completely off unless im installing something new, so maybe that bought me some more time..

I ordered an 850w GS awhile back. Lasted about a week and then it started having trouble powering on after being shut off unless I unplugged it and let it sit, sometimes I would have to wait several hours before I could get it to start again. I did 5 RMA's and every single unit I got would have the exact same issue after about a week. Reviews on newegg which were pretty much all positive when I first bought it from there now have several negative reviews complaining about the same issue http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA2F84EF8674

I contacted EVGA several times by email and each time they refused to give me a refund and said that the units I sent back passed internal testing and all they could do was send me another unit. Started making a bit of a fuss over on the forums and found a few other people having the same issue. Finally decided to try and give support a call and complain to them instead of by email and they actually agreed to send me an 850w G2 to try. The G2 has been running in my system now for about 3 months with no issues.

Never buying an EVGA power supply again or recommending to anyone else.
