Small case (micro ATX) that can house my rig as it is ?

I've recently decided to move my rig to a much smaller case in order to have it on the desk and save space in my study (where I mostly game and don't study at all, but shhh my family don't know what's going on in there). I'd like to move my components as they are, switching to a different mobo and case only. My rig

-4790K with NH-D15S (quite a tall cooler, I don't wanna replace it though since it's been fantastic so far)
-Z97X Gaming 5 from Gigabyte which is gonna have to be replaced with an mATX board, suggestions are welcome.
-16GB DDR3
-GTX 1080 FE
-1x SSD + 2x HDD
-Superflower Leadex Gold 850W PSU (wanna stick to that one too, great stability so far)
-Two ML120 fans I wanna reuse as intake for the case
-Zalman H1 full tower which is gonna be retired since it's too huge

That's pretty much it. I'd like a good price/value case, possibly in black&titanium color scheme to go with my Dell monitor since they're gonna be sitting on the same desk. Classical looks are preferred.

For the board I'd go with Gigabyte GA-Z97MX or ASRock Z97m Pro4. They were the last good boards that I heard of from reviews. I'd avoid Asus though, as even if their products are good on paper, their CS is ugly.

I'm assuming you'd have to retire your cooler as well as it may not fit within an mATX case, so I'd go with Cryorig C7 or Noctua NH L9i.

As for the case, I'd probably go towards Fractal Design Node 804 for its simplicity and its ability to fit full sized cards such as of yours.

I'd go with an Arc Mini R2 or Node 804 as huzzug said. I own both currently and I prefer the Arc Mini R2 though for saving desk space (Cubes take a lot of room).

As far as the board goes, I've owned two MSI Z97M Gaming and they're great boards too smile.gif

The Phanteks Enthoo Evolv mATX (also just known as the Enthoo Evolv, as it was the original version) will easily hold everything you're moving over & is a pretty nice case. It isn't cheap, but it's no more expensive than your Zalman H1 was.
If your RAM is 2x8GB, you could even consider going mITX & getting the even smaller Enthoo Evolv mITX version. It would still fit everything you have without issue & costs about half what the mATX case does. It will take up as much desk space as the mATX version, but it isn't as tall. Either one is considerably smaller than your current case though.

The Fractal Design Arc Midi R2 will fit your current components, including your Noctua. Great lil case, FD makes great stuff. 10/10, would case again.

Now here comes a tricky question. Supposing I do choose the ITX format of Evolv ITX, can you recommend any good ITX boards? Not particularly overclocking oriented as my 4790K can't even do 4.7GHz stable at 1.33V and I pretty much gave up on overclocking it. I'm looking for ones that don't use killer network or realteak audio. As much as I admire the build quality of my Z97X Gaming 5,which is a fantastic board, thanks to the Pascal DPC latency thread I discovered latency spikes caused by Killer network and Realtek audio. Maximus VII Impact seems to fit the description, and I could transfer the money I save by buying the ITX version of the case for a better board. It also appears to have more than enough clearance with D15S despite having the overbuffed power delivery section.

DPC latency seems very fine thumb.gif

That price though.....

Its not as nice looking as the Evolv ITX but you might want to look at the Silverstone SG10. It fits everything and thermal performance is good.
