Monitor upgrade!

Thread Starter
Hello all,

I'm looking at a monitor upgrade in a couple months. I don't know too much about them, so I was hoping that I could get some suggestions on some. Here is some quick info that might help with things though:

Price range - For the purpose of the argument, lets say between $200-$250
Resolution - 1080p or 1440p possibly
Refresh rate - At least 60hz
Panel type - Don't know yet
Screen size - 25" to 27", might consider 24" though
Game types - FPS, RTS, Racing, RPG mostly. No CS:GO, but Battlefield 4 is a thing for now. Not competitive though.

This would be used on the rig "deepthought" in my sig.

Ok, so a couple of other quick things. I don't really want to take chances with a Qnix/yamakasi. Also, 1440p is a potential, but my GTX 970 might not like that much, so I'm undecided there. It seems like in this price point, it's between an entry level 1440p monitor, or a pretty decent 1080p monitor. Now, I'm also fine with waiting, as I'd like to go with a large 21:9 3440x1440 in a couple years, so if this doesn't pan out for now, that's fine too.

I'm currently running a Samsung Syncmaster T27B350, if that helps. I'm not looking for anything super high end, but would like to avoid moderate/severe ghosting (not sure that I have really experienced ghosting, so I'm guessing here...), and have decently low input lag/response time.

Is there some type of test to run on my rig to see where my current monitor stands?

I'm going to look around and see what I see, and I'll post links to anything that stands out to me.

Thanks in advance for the help!

Alright, I found a couple that look alright to me.

BenQ GW2760HS

The main thing that concerns me about this monitor is no height adjustment, so I'd have to find a VESA mount for it. Not the end of the world though.
It's at a pretty decent price too, so that is a plus

BenQ RL2755HM

Same as above, no height adjustment.
Seems a tad pricey for a 1080p monitor though, to not have height adjustment as well.

Being a 1ms GTG response time is nice though.

BenQ EW2750ZL

Frameless is a nice touch, decent price again. AMVA+ should give nice colors. Flicker free and low blue light mode.

No height adjustment though. Again...
I think you can get an adapter plate for VESA mounting..?

ASUS MX259H

Frameless is nice, low blue light and flicker free is definitely nice, good price point.

Any thoughts on those? Any other suggestions? Any questions?

Am I missing out on anything by not looking at 24" screens?

I've seen these two now, in the 24" variety. Any thoughts? It seems like a lot of people have good experiences with them.

ViewSonic XG2401

ASUS VG248QE

There was an acer one too but I can't find that link right this moment.

Im also looking for 144Hz minitor. From the ones you mentioned i would go with ViewSonic XG2401. Some people here have and they seem happy with it.

There is also LG 24GM77 for which people say it has good colors for a TN, nut i dont like the thick bezels :/
