I have never seen coil whine kill a part. I wonder if it was a coil issue or something else?

Old transformers(and ballasts used in many lighting systems) hum for years.

My old monitor has gone 8 years of heavy use with whining coils.

Should have heard my X1900XT(clear across the room bad)

At least with video cards some manufacturers are aware of it and using different chokes. My brother's Asus 1070 doesn't have coil whine and they advertise quiet chokes.

My HTC 10 had a buzzing when it was launched. Not sure how but HTC fixed it with a firmware update. It must not have been coil whine.

I did try running my 970 overnight on a credits screen without any vsync going. it screamed most of the night, and in the morning it was gone. It could all just be coincidence or maybe it has some relevance.

Hissing? People have a problem with hissing?

The freaking audio jack was taken out. Complain about that. Not hissing.

People in the Fury X owner's thread were reporting resolved coil whine on Nanos after employing the above method. Personally my second Fury X had a bit of whine that wore out after running vid over night. I don't know how it would transfer to a mobile SoC but for GPU's I know it's been resolved through use.

So funny that they think prices only matter in USA. We get the end of the stick here not too far off.
