First and foremost, my dearest apologies if this subject has already been covered, but neither the search bar here at Overclock nor Google has given me a clear answer for X58, PLENTY of guides are out there for LGA 775/771 microcodes.

Now that I got that out of the way, here's my issue... I am running said motherboard with a Xeon X5560, and the uncore multiplier is locked at a rather ridiculous x20, which doesn't make for a good overclock, and as this system ages, my need for this thing to overclock farther increases. Right now, I'm capped at a bclk of 160 before this chip gets thirsty for VTT voltage.

Apparently this issue was fixed in a microcode update from Intel, but ASUS chose not to create an updated bios to address this fix, so a bios mod will be needed instead.

So here's my question. What must one do to update the microcode on an ASUS X58 board with AMI bios?

Again, terribly sorry if I'm a broken record here, just need to get this fixed. biggrin.gif
