hi,

just got this baby yesterday and freaking temps are sky high. never had this issue with the gtx 980ti windforce even overvolted and overclocked. I see also that some people are having good temps with this.

any suggestions on how can I tame this baby?

I overclock the card and I see I get like 2050mhz actual clocks but temps go 80-85c and fan curve already at 100%.

Yeah, the temperatures on this card are not great, but 85C is not too bad. If you can keep the temps around 85C or below you will be fine. But as for lowering the temperatures on the stock cooler:

1.) Lower GPU Voltages
2.) Increased Case Airflow (Lower Internal Case Temperature)
3.) Lower Ambient Temperature In Room
4.) Replace Stock Thermal Paste With A Better One

This card runs hot, it is the same for all of us, we all probably just keep our homes a bit cooler. The average ambient temperature in my home is 68F (20C).

Hi there

What case do you have and what yours ambient temperatures are?

I have run Zotac GTX1080 AMP for about 6 months without single issue and temps they're been in 72-75°C as max in gaming, in hotter ambient temperatures I have saw few times 78°C which has dropped to lower levels(75°C) after I raised fan speeds on case to 1200RPM

Opening door on case would or should lower temperatures, if yes then you have issue with airflow and I assume you are have AIO as well or no?

Hope this helps

Thanks, Jura

I don't know the exact ambient temps really but its currently summer so it roams around 33-35c. my case is a phanteks enthoo pro M acrylic. I have 2 140mm enermax cluster running at max rpm. I have full LCS for the processor. gpu runs hot AF. usually my case is cooler when closed compared to open.

I wish... AFAIK those cards are all designed exactly the same (same PCB / memory chips) as the "original" versions that we all have. If anyone has the BIOS for that card I would love to see how it performs once flashed to our cards. We would all probably see a nice little boost in performance.

I have contacted Zotac and asked for the BIOS. I gave them the serial number for my GTX 1080 AMP EXTREME to prove I own it. They responded that they should be able to give me the BIOS. Hopefully I hear back from them today.
