Also they don't use Ovens to reflow, there are better equipment for that. Just the avg joe has no business owning one of them.

I've done it plenty of times in the past with great results. Nothing wrong with trying it.

You might want to go read up on the types of plastics they use in PCBs. They contain Bromine which can my toxic. Just because you didnt keel over after reflowing doesnt mean you wont see effects years down the line. Also there are other plastic connectors you cant remove and you dont know what they are made up of.

Just because 1 person says its okay on the internet does not mean you believe them. Do your research.

Actually absolutely loads of people will say it's okay. Including myself. When the whole oven trick came to light a few years ago I think an absolute monemental amount of people have done it since.

Just make sure you take all the plastics off etc and it'll be fine.

You can use your normal, every day, food cooking oven.

If you are worried about your parts smelling like cookies ever after, or of the card leaving toxic volatile compounds in your oven (which shouldn't really happen unless you run it too hot for too long), run a clean cycle before and after.

Did you give it a try? I have also done a graphics card in my main oven and had good results...Keep temps low though. Actually, there are some threads on this site regarding the process.

you could always find an old toaster oven with a temperature control on it.

Ovens can be cleaned. Exactly what irreversible hazard do you think is going to happen if you reflow in you oven?

At any rate, if you are really paranoid about your oven, get a heatgun and do it by hand.
