Good Quality?

It seems like a good price for the amount of storage but im not sure on Quality of sand disk or that drive.  It also had a some what slower write speed which some people would argue dont matter but i like to compare ssds on read and write.

I can recommend what most people would for that amount of storage for an SSD.

The Sandisk SSD Plus is a good drive. I do not regret getting this 240 one. While it doesn't perform well in benchmarks there is absolutely no difference in real world use. Samsung excel at benchmarks and that's all. Nobody here is going to feel the difference between SSD's as they all perform the same due to consumer use being mostly limited to a queue depth of 1 or 2.

I can attest that in daily use all my ssd are fast and good purchases

I have/had
Adata 900 120gb
Patriot blaze 120gb
Samsung 840 250 gb x2
Samsung 840 EVO 250gb
Samsung 840 EVO 500 gb
Crucial mx300 275gb

They may bench different but all are great in daily use

In general my experience with SSD's is as follows

OCZ slightly underperforming from specs and I have had a couple become unreliable to the point that I have stopped using them ( early Vertex 2's)

Samsung pro - good performance and reliability but slightly disappointing compared to specs for performance.

Intel X 25 X 40 and 730's out performed quoted specs and have yet to have one fail.

Hyper X 3k's seem to be the most responsive I've used - and test out almost exactly at quoted ratings - Have had one customer break off the SATA connector support on the back of the drive but all others have been flawless and the one that he damaged is still functional.

SSD for OS is a great upgrade that will give a noticable difference in so many ways over an HDD I am to the point I almost refuse to let a customer spec out a rig without one tongue.gif

I am currently running an Evo 250 gig SSD form y OS.

I am looking to start replacing my other non SSD hard drive that I use to install games to. Would it make much difference when gaming ?

I am pretty sure the heat that is generated by the older style non ssd hard drives is much more than what an SSD would produce.

Is the Sandisk that I linked and the Adata both good quality drives?

Generally gaming doesn't benefit ad much as os

League will load super fast but you have to wait on mechanicals.

I can attest to this. Even my low end laptop loads super fast but you still need to wait for other people to load the game on their 5400 rpm laptops.

Some games absolutely require a fast SSD unless you want to wait 3 minutes+ every time it has to load. The biggest offender is Dragon Age Inquisition.

An SSD should be mandatory in a modern PC now; I agree with everyone else.

As far as brand, it doesn't much matter, I used to have an OCZ Agility IV and it still works, it's in my brother's rig. For myself I got an 840 Evo. And my wife's rig has an 850 Evo.

Samsung may have it's issues like any other company, but overall I like them a lot. Their DDR3 was amazing. They do the 14nm process for AMD Polaris. They supply GDDR5 and HBM for AMD GPUs. Never mind all the high end TVs and other products they make. Never really had a problem with them. Although if my brand new $600 phone exploded I might have more negative things to say. thumb.gif
