I respectively disagree and I have the math/evidence on my side. I'll just leave it at that cause most people here aren't buying it, especially the 780 owners, such as myself.

1080 is overpriced, which is why I recommended the 1070.

Yes but it will be actually new architectural and not just polished maxwell with running like crazy crying baby sounds and issues,
because of the maxed out clocks (the new boost that makes others cards look bad on tests) and i'm sure the jump will be much better wink.gif

No worries there, We're here to be a team and gather information, not blow steam up each others , you know whats.

Its ok if you dont believe, IF my information wasn't true, I would of purchase a 1070 or 1080 the day they came out

Now if i were playing @ 4k, clearly I'd buy one, but 1440p runs like a dream still for me lol

This are expensive cards, and i don't plan to change it for nothing, need to have any motivation for doings so,
and right now i don't see such thing or a games that require it - 980 Ti G1 with modded bios is just perfect for my long run.

Not sure what this has anything to do with what the OP was asking, but good for you? He has a 780, not a 980 TI. The comparison of in-between generations with a 980 TI is completely different.

Volta is a long ways off.

1440P cannot be maxed out on newer games on a 780, and it still struggles on a lot of older games as well. This isn't up for debate, just simply a fact unless you consider 30fps playable.

Please don't spread misinformation.

Volta is a long ways off.
That's why i gave him best suggestion for upgrade if he wants - used 980 ti.
Man i really hope Volta is a long ways off, i don't want to give any money soon wink.gif
But unfortunately we will start to see them somewhere in next year...

Yes you referring referring to sort of Tick Tock. The problem is if you are stuck with a card from 2 generations back what do you do? You either buy a used 980ti or a 1070. Also you better hope AMD has something competitive cause as you can see the price of Nvidia cards as been increasing every generation. The very nature of not being able to play the games I enjoy at 1440p and with an exceptable framerate made my 780 sit and collect dust, rendering it useless. i'd rather pay now so that at least I have something that can allow me to play and enjoy the current new games and upcoming ones. By the time Volta even comes out i'll have already have sold my 1070 just as I did with my 780 Lightning.

Just leaving that here to all people that they are saying that a 1070 is recommended for 1440p (no hard feelings here)

A 1070 is definitely recommended for 1440P, especially if it's going to be a lead-in for the eventual purchase of a Volta GPU.

That game runs like crap on both of my systems (Radeon Duo Pro and GTX 1080 SLI) in 4K. The only single gpu solution would be the TITAN X Pascal to get to 60FPS at 1440P on max settings.

Also, I'm pretty sure everybody knows by now that game is a piece of unoptimized crap when it comes to performance thumb.gif
