Upgrade from GTX 780 to 1070 or wait till Volta series? - Page 4

Witcher 3 1070 1440P max settings? Not really, 1070 still can't maintain a perfect minimum 60 FPS in Witcher 3 with 1440P everything maxed out.

If you looking for a perfect minimum of 60FPS at maxed out settings 1440P, Probably Go 1070SLi, Titan XP, or probably 1080 Overclocked.

have 1070 overclocked, pretty sure in some area still dip down to 40-55FPSish. If you okay with that, 1070 are still good.

Why would you cherry pick the worst well known and established unoptimized PC game. Everyone knows that Deus-EX performs bad on all cards.

Witcher 3 some of the settings the difference between Ultra and high is so minimal. There is a guide which shows what settings can be turned down a bit and still have the game look and run flawless. With that being said, you are correct that having everything maxed @1440p there will be occasional dips in the frame, better that then having the game tank on a 780 crawling it's way through.

When I cranked everything to the max I enjoyed 30fps in witcher 3 on my 4.8ghz 6700k and 1080 @ 2ghz specool.gif and that was only 1440p

I also want to upgrade from 970 to 1070 and almost pulled the trigger, but that memory fiasco is holding me back. That and 60Hz monitor. I plan to get new one, 144hz but i don't see anything interesting this year. Maybe from Samsung, but they're curved :/

When is Volta even planned to be released?

All the cool kids have 1070/1080 NOW and will upgrade to Volta still. That is how you do it and burn money.

Nope. Not even a 1080 can hold 60fps+ max settings at 1440p.

I was initially adamant on buying a used 980ti but where I live here in Canada, the price for used 980ti's are only $80-$110 cheaper. So in my situation a new 1070 with full warranty, more Vram and new features was the better deal. I noticed in the US that used 980ti's sell for a more reasonable price so certainly obtaining one for cheap is probably the best way to go if looking to save some cash.
