Upgrade from GTX 780 to 1070 or wait till Volta series? - Page 6

Ok here is why you can't just enable it. Simultaneous Multi-Projection as a feature requires the game dev to implement the calling function. To achieve this is not hard or does not require any major effort for the dev and is API independent. So in essence it's more for future games and I heard they will be adding it to the sim car games even the older ones since there is a huge user base that has triple displays for that genre.

I personally could never stand the look of triple display gaming, this certainly has fixed it's out of place wonky look as the CEO clearly points out.

AT the core that's your issue and everything else you have mentioned is poppycock. Oh and BTW we already mentioned a few pages back to the the OP that bang for buck he is best best served if he could get his hands on on cheaply priced used 980ti as you may have failed to realize but none the less this does not in anyway change the major dichotomy you present with your magical supposed 780 performance.
Are you for real? Have you not keep up with the progression of the last two new architectures seceding Kepler. What features you ask from 780 to 1000 well here is just a quick list off the top off my head and bear in mind most of these I mention even Maxwell(900 series lacks) lacks as so it's probably much worse if one were to compile a list with Kepler included. However I see no point in having to be your lackey since you are too lazy to simply look it up or as I said before you must have had your head in the sand for the last Two gens. Also since you have made it clear that your are wearing thick blinders when discussing these issues and acknowledging and downplaying it in a hyperbole manner the major benefits from a 780 to pascal this will be my final response.

So off the top of my head and bear in mind there is more here I am just simply going off memory . 7000 to 1000 (most except for a few listed here not even maxwell has)

Significantly improved DirectX 12 Hardware asynchronous Compute(more of a maxwell comparison, you can forget the 780 taking advantage of cool dx12 features)
Nvidia FAST SYNC
SMP - Simultaneous Multi Projection(a godsend for triple display setups)
VRWorks Lens Matched Shading and Single Pass Stereo features(huge deal if you are into VR)
Displayport 1.4
HDMI 2.0 revision B
High Dynamic Range (HDR) Display support for both HDMI and DP with 10bit HEVC decode and Encode.
Ansel
VR Audio
Faster communication through SLI bridge

Go google the rest if you want a complete list. Fact is if you think after 2 generations new important features haven't been added then you only further prove my initial point about you.

Respond back with all the your misinformed, biased rebuttals but I am done here. Never seen someone go overboard to such an extent with there bias which steams from being unable or willing to part the cash for a new GPU.

LOL Directx12 cool ? Are you for real man? There is no directx12 game yet (and we probably wont have anytime soon).
And i mean true Directx12 game.
Dude hold yourself you don't have the most insane card in the world, probably the next months nvidia will release Volta or Pascal refresh, so your 1070 will become obsolete before you know it.

Edit: There is no magical supposed 780 performance. (I am not new here so i don't write inaccuracies).

Volta will probably not be out until 2018. I receive better performance and less issues with my 1080 FTW then I did with my 780 Ti's in SLI that were highly overclocked. If you run 1080p then you could get away with a 780, will still have to lower some settings depending on the game. Anything higher then 1080p a 780 will be hurting.

I think we all must agree that individuals have their own level of contentment instead of trying to prove what can't be proven. What's playable and what's not are standards that differ based on the person. 30 fps might be a slideshow for someone but it is perfectly playable for the other.

That comment is so ignorant, I can't even believe where to start.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_games_with_DirectX_12_support

There are games right now out with DX12 support. In fact, Forza Horizon 3, Forza 6: Apex, Gears of War 4 AND Halo 5: Forge are all native DX12 titles.

Get your facts right before you make your argument.

These games are not written in DirectX12 learn to read.
And also that DirectX12 SUPPORT is very bad (in many cases you have lower fps than DirectX11).

Wrong. The Microsoft titles are written out of the box for DX12. They were not ported after or anything. Their engines were designed with that in mind (In fact Turn 10 used Forza 6 to test out native DX 12 implementation, hence why Forza 6 Apex was the testbed for the whole PC crossplay thing to become a reality). Otherwise, they would of never bothered to initiate their crossplay initiative between XBox and Windows 10. Also, Forza only plays well with cards after the 500 series, which means Kepler is the lowest generation you can play these games which has some grasp of DX12 soft support. The beauty of DX12 is that it allows a certain DX11 hardware feature level to still use the core DX12 assets so not everyone is going to be forced to upgrade to DX12 cards from the get go. That is how DX12 was designed, it was built on top of a certain hardware level of DX11 as a baseline.

So before you go spewing out more ignorance, I want to make sure you know how DX12 is made. DX12 is just an evolved DX11 and it is not totally brand new, emulated, or ported into existing games as an afterthought or haphazardly done. Considering you are from Greece, I just feel bad you don't have money to get newer things for cheap there. /shrug

I will give you points that nVidia's implementation of DX12 is inferior to AMD's implementation as the RX 480 in both Vulkan and DX12 performance tests of games and synthetic are better than a 1060 and in most regards the AMD implementation seems to have not seen DX12 performance degrade lower than DX11. This is of course an issue of nVidia's implementation, not because of DX12 itself. It is also worth nothing when DX11 came out, nVidia was also the laggard in terms of implementation with AMD getting to full DX11 support first on top of DX11.1. nVidia was a whole generation behind.
