Gaming system for under 500€

Thread Starter
Hi there!

I am helping a friend to build a gaming system for under 500€.

I am stuck on which CPU / graphics card combo to choose. I don't know a whole lot about the AMD series as I have been using Intel for the last 10 years.

AMD A10 Series 7850K seems a good combo solution with the integrated R7 graphics on the FM2+ socket.. But will this be any good for current games?

What alternative do I have for a cheap AM3+ socket system? I guess the CPU + graphics card should stay under 150-200€.

Thanks in advance!

What do you intend to put into a 500€ system that CPU+Card will be less than 50% of the budget? Does not sound like a good plan to me.

Also I am not sure why you would want to go with AMD at all.

hello,
do you have any components already? or is it a complete build?

cheapest method I would think would be an Athlon x4 cpu with a fm mobo and then as much as possible on a gpu's, like 200+ euro of your budget.

I put together a althon 840 with a RX 480 in the back for around that price mark.

Athlon 840 £60
asus fm2+ mobo £60
1866 ram $40
ssd drive £60
dvd drive £15
case £20
psu $40
rx 480 $190

quote from ebuyer.

can save if you get a mechanical hard drive rather than a ssd, £20
also case psu combo , but psu is an unknown quality.
you can also buy an 470 instead and save money that way, just try to get the best gpu you can get.

Well, Intel is a lot more expensive.

Here the cheapest I could come up with:

Totel: 414,00 €
Case Silverstone SG13 49,00 €
CPU AMD A8 Series A8-7600 4x 3.10GHz 73,00 €
Motherboard ASRock A68M-ITX AMD A68M So.FM2+ 53,00 €
RAM 8GB G.Skill F3-1600C11D-8GNS DDR3-1600 35,00 €
Cooler Raijintek Zelos Topblow 18,00 €
Graphics 2048MB Asus Radeon R7 240 Aktiv 50,00 €
SSD 240GB Intenso High Performance 57,00 €
HDD 1000GB Hitachi Travelstar 5K1000 47,00 €
PSU Realpower RP-420 ECO Silent 24,00 €

Yes, he doesn't have any components.

The althon 840 isn't on sale anymore in Germany and it will be a new system with warranty on it. It's going to be an mITX system.

The CPU should be FM2+ or AM3+ I guess.

am3 is your budget reaches that level,it all motherboard pricing with am3, but that 480 rig gotta be better than an apu.

gonna be about 600 euro for an am3 with fx 6300.

I would go for just the ssd, unless hes storing movies he don't need more than 240gb, be enough for os and 10 gamesish.

There is no mITX AM3+ motherboard. So, if you want AMD, the only option is FM2+. Otherwise, you should see if you can make a cheap rig based on i3 6100.

Ok, I just saw that AM3+ doesn't come in an mini-ITX form factor. So that is no option.

What about a Pentium G3258 with overclocking capability?

Total: 469,00 €
Case Silverstone SG13 49,00 €
CPU Intel Pentium G3258 65,00 €

The Radeon RX 460 seems to be great in reviews for current games at 1080p. He isn't going to be playing 4K and can always upgrade in 1-2 years.

I am shopping at Mindfactory here in Germany. Silverstone case is set.

A bit pricier than with an A8 CPU, but IMO it's the better way to go with an i3-6100 build before AMD Zen is realeased.

600€ without case. You could get under 550€ with cheaper a cooler, SSD and PSU

https://www.mindfactory.de/shopping_cart.php/basket_action/load_basket_extern/id/6ca94d2214fda0f13b7d358c9d2202ad15acaa2b82a285c0c88

If your budget allows it, it's worth to spend the 100€ more.
