Surprised with the pricing ^ I agree with the person above. They need to break a deal with Verizon already and get on their network

Wow same pricing as the iPhones. Google looking to take on premium makers like Apple and Samsung. Really looking forward to it.

I don't mind the price if they offer premium build quality as in IP and Galaxy S.

From all the rumors going around I won't have the same IP certification as the iPhone or Galaxy.
For me - it better have some amazing audio on the Pixel X from HTC (headphone) or I'm out.

They did a good job on the HTC 10, I can tell you that.

One of the big draws of the Nexus line has been it's price. All were somewhat "cheap" in comparison to other top brand flagship phones with the exception of the original Nexus 6. Now that Google is moving away from that pricing with their Pixel line I doubt they will be big sellers, even compared to the sales of the Nexus phones which are already rather low. The only way Google even has a chance of them selling is if they get carriers to sell them in stores for the cheaper prices that comes with either 2 year contracts or montly payments on them. So few people in the US ever buy such expensive phones outright.

That's the whole point, though. Google is banking on moving away from the Nexus line, and trying their luck with a more "premium" brand, hence the pricetag. They've spent more on marketing this new Pixel line, than they've ever had with any Nexus phone. They want the Pixel to have iPhone/Galaxy level stature. If the hype train is sufficient, I highly doubt people will care much about the costs. The pricing is certainly in the iPhone/Galaxy/Note ballpark.

The Nexus phones were very much niche devices, and most people who purchased them are savvy enough with Android. With Google seemingly looking to go for a more simpler iPhone-like experience (hence the talk about them adding their own twist to Android, instead of having the previous stock experience), you can see what their sights are set upon.

There's also a rumor floating around that Google isn't killing off the Nexus line. Wonder how true that is.

Rolling on a Samsung Galaxy Note 4 after my m7 died and couldn't be happier with expandable battery, SD card. Plays nearly everything I have with codecs that are supported, what's not is handled by sw.

Mind you, I flashed it as soon as I got it. TouchWiz is not something I like, proud aosp fanboy

Though I got this phone for 200 from ebay. I just don't see the point in spending more money on my phone thany gaming sig rig with the new phone pricing for flagships.
