I blame the ever so stupid strife for thinner phones. They're trying to pack as much battery as possible in an enclosure that doesn't have enough space, so compromises are made, either to the battery or the structure.
A couple months ago, I got thrown over the handlebars of my bike when my front tire tracked into a narrow deep ditch at over 30kph, slammed down on my right side and my OnePlus One took a pretty serious impact. And guess what happened, nothing, nothing what so ever. Because its a somewhat chubbier, curvy phone that's still working perfectly to this day with nothing but a few roadburn marks that mostly rubbed out.
