With eSports shaping up to be a half-a-billion dollar industry this year, now would be a good time to step up your livestreaming game if you're hoping to get noticed among the packs of Twitch streamers and YouTubers. Enter Logitech's latest webcam: the C922 Pro Stream, designed specifically for gamers with 1080p streaming at 30 frames per second and dynamic background replacement to make your face streams really pop.

If they could keep the price down on this it could be a HUGE competitor to the new Razer Stargazer; as it appears to be nearly identical to the Stargazer for the most part except for a few minor differences like the Stargazer using Intel Realsense instead of this other chroma key type tech the Logitech uses etc..etc.. They're both 720p 60fps or 1080p 30fps capable webcames with similar function and build quality and similar image quality and audio quality so overall seem quite comparable. The Stargazer runs for $150 though, so if this C922 is anywhere near the ~$70 the C920 has been going for the past year or two it'd be a steal for budget streamers and content creators like me. thumb.gifthumb.gif

I believe Creative Labs has also released something similar to this webcam called BlasterX Senz3D for around $150 dollars.

This explains why C920's were a $39.99 lightning deal on Amazon a few days ago.

Perfect timing for those Twitch Prime memberships. But I wonder what the real difference is between this and the Razer Stargazer, if any.

Yeah me too. I was kinda considering the Stargazer and was even thinking of buying it yesterday and luckily the C922 review popped up in my recommended youtube feed via LinusTechTips channel; and i realized it was quite similar for a lower price. ($99 MSRP apparently, so $50 less than the Stargazer)

I've been doing my recordings and streams without a camera this whole time (just using shadowplay for game recording and a Shure PG42 XLR Analog Condenser mic + budget M-audio usb interface to record voice) and have been thinking of adding a facecam type option to them for some time; but i didn't want to spend a fortune on it as i was upgrading my PC as well as possibly upgrading to a better mixer/interface as well.

The major thing that makes me interested in the Stargazer and C922 is the 60fps and 1080p functionality (sucks that it can't do 1080p 60fps though, only 720p-60fps mad.gif ) the thing is, i'm not so sure how crucial having 60fps facecam footage is. Like, is it hard to encode everything together with the framerate being different or something? (i.e. your cam is 30fps 1080p but the gameplay is 60fps 1080p, does that cause a problem where it looks out of sync or doesn't encode right or something?)

This is a category i have next to no knowledge of really; overall i'm just wanting a decent camera to take still pics + record game streams etc..

Well, 60 FPS camera footage isn't really needed for just your face. wink.gif 30 FPS re-encoded to 60 FPS will just double frames, and it may look off to some people. Since those extra 30 frames don't contain new data.

It seems like the Stargazer can record in 4:2:2? While the C922 is restricted to 4:2:0? There's really not enough data to say... Other than that the Realsense cams only have drivers for Win 10(Seems there is an SDK that supports 8.1). So I guess those with older OS' will have to stick with the C922. Would be nice if we could get some real in-depth reviews/looks at them.

I saw that sale, and grabbed like 5 of them. You're right certainly explains the sale haha. I was happy as could be with that sale half the price they are normally!

Still not 4k 60fps+ frown.gif
Not even stable 1080p 60fps...

What are they using? A 10 years old image capture chip?

I think what you are looking for is a Camcorder... There is zero way to do 4k60 over USB 3, regardless, sans really lame compression.

Besides, there is also the cost. I doubt anyone woud would buy a 500$+ "Webcam".
