The only one of their "games" that doesn't seem to be an excuse to subliminally advertise their Twitch.tv streaming service is their sandbox MMO.

I'm not buying in at all. My thoughts are these games aren't created because of a passionate team of game-loving devs, they're projects driven by Amazon to push their Twitch.tv streaming service and other Amazon services.

I would love to be wrong though. Fun games are seemingly few and far between these days.

Exactly. These "games" feel more like frameworks out of which media is made to feed their streaming business with gamers providing the labour.

"Gaming companies" have done plenty of things wrong. I guess you're one of those people who like the same recycled crap that's been regurgitated for years made by the same "game companies".

Your posts echo someone who has some sort of stake in these companies. Nobody wants your crap.

Livestreaming services with ads and a facsimile of a 'game' tacked on. Who wants this?

Pretty sure all the hardcore/famous wanna-be Twitch streamers will eat it up. Never underestimate the power of peer pressure.

Its like watching a train wreck. Horrendous, but you're completely unable to look away.

They've licensed the CryEngine, have a huge backbone of AWS servers, and are trying to use their leverage to dip into gaming, and an industry that dwarfs $ Dollar wise all TV & Movie media combined in yearly sales iirc.

Sounds like some of the expectations are that they should be held to AAA game sales/quality "right away" on their first toe into the gaming pool. I say I hope they learn from any mistakes and correct them along the way and keep pressing forward to their goals. We all have tons of other options gaming wise and if they fail at times it wont really affect us all that much.

I know everyone has to be Nostradamus and declare their position on every topic and drives spears into the ground. Myself included. On this however I'm just chilling and will take whatever comes my way. If I'm interested fine, if not fine.:D

Their core business is amazing, but when they branch out they have about as many misses as hits

The Man in the High Castle was great, Betas was actually pretty decent as well. They just haven't pushed as much as Netflix has in becoming its own TV Network. Though considering they are giving you free 2 day shipping on nearly everything, the budget for their Prime TV/Movies side is pretty small. As the Shipping is really what you are paying for, and really has saved so more money than I've payed into for it. Really if anything with Prime you are paying for the shipping, and they are just tossing Prime Video/Music/Books in for free. Prime Music is actually pretty nice, I use it all the time.

The Kindles are actually pretty decent, doesn't seem like you have used one. Lack of google play sucks, but it runs full blown android. The HDX Tablets were always very high quality.

Their Fire TV devices are the best in the business, for one reason. Sideloading apps. I have the Roku (the new quadcore stick), mainly because charter only makes the app that turns it into a cable box only for Roku. It works great, but kinda blows when It comes to my Local Media. No Sideloading Kodi means no great way to watch my local media. Forced to use stuff like Plex (which I would rather only use for streaming out of my network).

I have both the Fire TV Sticks and a 4k fire tv box. They just work. And the new quad core stick coming out (which I already preordered) will solve the problems of the older slower dual core stick. The Interface is the best of all devices, and has the best Prime Interface on any device. The Netflix interface is the same as every other streaming device, and so is most other apps. It really is the best devices Amazon has to offer, and the best way to stream content. Forget Chromecast and other jank devices, The Fire TV devices are the ones to get. The fact it runs Android alone makes it worth it.

The Fire Phone was a joke from the start, just like Ubuntu Phone.

Amazon is also doing great stuff in terms of home automation with Alexa. I can see some big things in the future for that product.
