Is this new?

Thread Starter
I just received an Asus X99 Deluxe II monoblock from a third party vendor today, and the kit looks like a refurb to me... and a poor refurb at that.

No instructions included
No mounting hardware included
No thermal paste included
No thermal pads included
The box was quite distressed
The monoblock wrapping does not look factory original

What is EKWB's assessment of the monoblock wrapping?

Well what third-party vendor? Do you have the original store listing from that vendor?

If it was sold as a refurbished part, this is typically what to expect. I've bought many refurb parts over the years from various vendors and sometimes direct from manufacturers like EVGA and they normally give you the product with minimal packaging for safe delivery and that's it. Half the time you are lucky to get the I/O plate with a motherboard.

If the part works as it was designed to and only has minor cosmetic damage, I would say that's your regular refurbished level of quality.

I don't want to name names atm, nobody has done wrong yet.

The part was not listed as refurb, but new. I don't believe the vendor is/was aware of the packaging issue. First I would like the manufacturers opinion as to this being normal packaging. If it does appear to be a refurb I will take it up with the vendor.

This is not normal packaging and I would like to investigate further on this issue. I have already contacted you via PM.
