Not entirely true. My XL2411Z had terrible trailing, even with all the tweaks through the factory menu and vt tweaks. It literally made me get a migrane from the doubling trails. There was a thread of blur busters where someone showed the VG248QE in lightboost mode and it was a lot better.

Hence why I said, not entirely true. And it's a glitch you have to constantly reapply, it's a PITA. Monitor goes into sleep, have fun doing a 10 step process (exaggerating, but it's quite a few steps) to reapply. Go in and out of windowed mode, reapply. The XL2411Z also benefited from it, but not as much. I never even bothered because of what a hassle it was. I was hoping BenQ would release a firmware with Falk's findings, but I gave up.

XL2730Z was a piece of crap. Panel was good IF IT WORKED but had the same faults and defects as the PG278Q Rog Swift (its the EXACT Same panel but with a different bezel mounting thus the AUO part number change--I read both forums--the exact same faults (blurry half screen, split text on half the screen, inversion artifacts on green game text, etc) happened on BOTH monitors.

And the strobe settings were a MAJOR step back from the XL2720Z.
XL2720Z would single strobe from 60hz to 144hz in 1 hz increments, and most refresh rates between 60hz-128hz worked with VT tweaks (except 76 hz). And VT tweaks (VT 1500 at most refresh rates) would reduce crosstalk by 33%.

the XL2730Z would ONLY strobe at 120hz and 144hz. Going below 120hz would keep 120hz pulse timings, causing unplayable stutter mess at 100hz, and 60hz would double strobe, and even though the XL2730Z "accepted" VT tweaks, they didn't reduce the strobe crosstalk anymore, and 144hz with blur reduction had WAY too much crosstalk.

All I know about the XL2735 is that they "fixed" 100hz strobing and that's it. without a "Single Strobe" for 60hz strobing capability, so you can get good strobing on 60hz consoles and 60hz locked games, it's a bit worthless, and if you only used 120hz strobing, the XL2730Z at least has freesync.

Doesn't this work?

I'm setting my eyes on Samsung, anyway.

The windows strobe utility capped the Strobe phase at 048 maximum, so you would not shut off the backlight with VT tweaks. And the windows strobe utility was designed for use with a VT 1350/VT 1500 tweak. Those persistence values on the top slider are based on 0.167ms pulse widths, which only apply with a VT tweak active. Using the Service menu let you use up to Strobe Phase 100.

Yeah, it works, but you get better results using the settings through the factory menu. To be clear, it improves the strobing, it doesn't fix the doubling you get from trails, it's impossible to fix on the 24" models. That tool allows you to make tweaks to a certain point, then stops, as then panel will go black if you go to a certain range. I guess the creator limited it to prevent countless people complaining about black screens and thinking they bricked their monitors. biggrin.gif

Edit: Falk ninja'd.

Those are crazy expensive now. If I was going to spend that much, I'd just grab the EIZO FS2735.

I think we will get it to some extent with the advent of strobe-VA's. But please, continue.
