Rampage v Edition 10 PCIe Slots 1 and 2 for SLI

Hey guys, Im preparing a build with R5e10 and custom loop watercooling. For optical and practical reasons I want to place 1080s in Slot 1 and 2 from CPU downwards. In the manual it recommends Slot1 and 3. What could possibly happen?

I got an in 5960x with 40 lanes and an intel 750 in Slot4. Lanewise no issues but im afraid Board design will give me 16x/8x for some reasons.

And if so, how big of an performance loss is to be expected.

Will be 16x / 8x in sli then, not a big loss in performance, maybe 1% difference compared to 16x - 16x.

Thx, that s what I expected. Maybe ill find a convincing alternative in using 1 and 3 for Sli and cramming intel 750 in between. Its watercooled as well what makes hardtube routing difficult.
