If the vcore drops during stress testing you are getting some throttling.

The CPU VID is the factory default voltage for your chip (each chip is different) this is what I start out with.
Vcore is what you adjust in Bios but can/will also be affected by things like LLC, OffSet Voltage, Vdroop, load etc. This is why it may not read exactly the same as what you enter into Bios.
The hotter the VRM/socket area become the more current it draws which in turn creates even more heat, same ole song and dance.

Actully thats not tru in my situation the core vid changes with the bios adjusment bc i check it each time i change the voltages the vcore really seems like it doesnt changes much mybe a .01 volt +/-

I just changed the voltages in the bios before i gone to work and the core vid u see which is 1.463 is now 1.400 so at 4.6ghz need to screw with it more i think hwinfo doesnt like my board lol

If it wasent for the 140 mm fan i would hit up words of 80 to 90 c

You said fan behind the socket, You also need one directly blowing on both NB and vrm heat sinks, if its blowing behind the vrms bascally only cooling the cpu socket down. You can always increace you chill and clock higher like going water.

if your currently using a 970 board, you may get higher clocks on same voltage, probally not worth the money though, as you can spend same ammount for water chill which should let you clock higher

Haven't read through the whole thread slowly but just skimmed through it, 74C is a bit too high and that may be causing errors, temps should stay below 70C maximum on either core or socket

The asrock fatality 990fx killer board is not a bad board and for the fan befind the socket actully gets right behind the vrms the thor v2 case has a huge whole for replacing the heatsink and such so ya the vrms are actully completly exposed

For those who haven't used this board there is no LLC option in the BIOS.

I used a few of these are they are fantastic till 4.5-4.6. Then they become a hassle to cool the socket and VRM.

The heatsinks are well secured too but tiny and they get piping hot.

Nice setup OP. Just don't lose sleep over trying to wring this sucker out much further than 4.6 IMO.

is there any noticable gains after 4.6

They just start to come to life at 4.8 and even more at 5+ biggrin.gif
I could easily feel the performance jump on my 8350 going to 4.8 and this 9590 at 5.1 is again as noticeable.

You'll need a better mobo and a better cooling solution to get there, sorry man.

As for the VID, you need to have default values entered with Turbo disabled iirc.
Make sure you only read the Maximum header.
Turbo and/or C&Q will also alter readings other than Maximum.

I turned that all off in the bios so it all good there but i want to atleast get to stock clocks of the 9590 4.7ghz with my 8350 will i gain anytging from 4.6 to 4.7 at all

And if so im going to start out at 4.0 ghz and start recording
things down from there bc i didnt do that before

It should show in benchmarks yes, but in everyday use probably not noticeable.
When I ran my 8350 it could run 5.0GHz but it actually had better performance at 4822MHz (18 x 267MHz) and was much easier to manage than the 5.0GHz. Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

Notice those voltages, that's on a CHV-Z to give you an idea of what you might be up against when shooting for 4.8 and above.

No LLC? In that case if you want it to run at 1.5 volts under 100% load, then you would want to set it to 1.58v in the bios and it might hit 1.56v while idling with CnQ disabled. That is just an example based on my experience with another non LLC board.
