For you Microsoft fans, however, the more interesting statistics come when looking at the specific Windows versions and the share associated with each of them. As has been the case since June, Windows 7 market share is continuing to increase. It went from 47.25% in August to 48.27% in September. Likewise, Windows 10 usage fell from 22.99% to 22.53%. Windows XP also decreased, from 9.36% to 9.11%, along with Windows 8.1, from 7.92% to 7.83%.

I had a sudden image of Mel Gibson in woad, yelling "FRREEEEDDOMMMM"

My company is small (<30 people) but large enough, government contract-wise, to be closely scrutinized. We won't be switching to Win10 anytime soon. We'd have to hire specialists to ensure we did not breach any of our DoD contracts. Our current Win7 workstations, server, and firewall all meet the required security and export control clauses in our contracts. If we go changing it, the burden of proof is on us to re-establish compliance and get approval for the new system. NOT worth the risk or the cost, just to say we're on the latest OS. We're already having to look into the implications of the backported telemetry and data collection that MS is releasing to Win7.

Apple didnt support it, Sony Playstation didnt too... good luck with that if vulkan actually picking up pace in PC windows market.

So developing multi-platform games on DirectX is easier, because it covered PC + Xbox market already.

Falling Apple market share and a small boost to Linux. I am pleased.

I'm going to downgrade all my mining rigs to Win7. Only reason I was using 10 is because AMD only had Win10/8.1 Polaris drivers for a while.

You mean upgrade to 7. I installed Win 10 in a VM, updated it and it became unbootable. Reinstalled it again in a VM and the same thing happened. Win 10 is seriously as buggy as Win ME.

Good that we are now seeing the tipping point at which the majority have finally stopped believing in that awful Trojan 10 service.

People still want their own Operating System configured for their exclusive usage and not perpetrated by Redmond, telling you what you want. Soon you will see a slow back lash towards previous releases of theirs and as they try to punish those for choosing their own destinies, you will see a further back lash to Redmond by switching towards the Linux phenomenon.

I've seen little old ladies using various versions of Linux on their old hardware and are extremely happy about it, and they know about Trojan 10 and it's malevolence towards them.

Soon as Redmond sees a further drop in uptake of their filth, their desperation will be shown when some nasty antics become even more prevalent and all of their shills will be scrambling to describe this new mode of operation, the best way they can.

If a 75 year old can see through their lies they have lost the battle already, it's only the moronic out there keeping them in business and that is why the harder they squeeze the more people will slip through their fingers.
