Cost of silver is way more than nickel. Also these factorys are setup to do nickel plating .. on both base and pipes. It would be significant'y more expense to do silver on base and nickel on pipes .. or silver on both.
Bottom line is increased cost any way it's tried and very little gain.
Current costs of metals:
Copper . . = 2.1546 .- 2.1550
Nickel. . . = 4.5896 .- 4.5941
Silver = 1241.40 / 1266.50
