Generally dual tower cooler are with 140mm fan but from what i heard 120mm fan with higher performing static pressure should be better. The plan is to buy a cpu cooler, put 2 120mm fan (like the new ml120 from corsair) and put the 140mm in exhaust like in the top of my case (i'm waiting for the corsair air 740).

I read Phanteks PH-TC14PE and the nhd-15 are very good performer (but it's not like i know all the cpu cooler). On some you can put 3 fan is this useful and in that case do i still have the space to put the radiator and fan of my fury X.

Two people to mount a cpu cooler? Sounds pretty absurd.

I like my noctua nh d14 with two 140mm thermalright fans on it.

be quiet!'s mounting system is a real pain to use though. If his hands are on the bigger side and its getting mounted in a cramped case. It could be that he needed a hand.

lol my Swiftech H140-X required two on the second install, because the adhesive pads weren't adhesive anymore and I didn't have others on hand. Therefore someone had to hold the backplate in place while I had to screw it in. Corsair Carbide Air 540 is too wide for one person to do that. Awful mounting system to the point where I'm never buying Swiftech again. EK it is.

As for the topic at hand, my money is on the Silver Arrow IB-E. Too bad it doesn't have 38mm thick fan support in the center like its predecessors, but there are outstanding 140mm x 25mm fans these days not to mention 120mm x 25mm so not too much is lost.

Silver Arrow IB-E Extreme comes with TY-143 2500rpm 130cfm fans .. as good as FHP141 fan. wink.gif
TY-143 are available separately too.

Yeah but it can also use regular 140mm fans and 120mm although the latter may require some tweaking. Oh yeah and Thermalright mounting systems are excellent, their Venomous-X has the best mounting system I've ever encountered.

Finally i took the cryorig r1 ultimate, the perf are good and i like the look and the fact that you can customize it (with the customod cover) and if i want to go go crazy i can put a third fan (and if i don't have room i can put the slim one xt 140). It will be in an air 540 with decmiflex dust filter with 3 ml 120mm in front and ml 140mm everywhere else wired to an z170 sabertooth s (with his 6 pwm compatible chassis fan header for crazy fan control)

Actually you are wrong. The fan clips fit 105mm hole spacing of 120mm fans, not 124.5mm spacing of140mm fans.

The mounting kits work well, but you must have a magnetic tip screwdriver or 5.5mm nut driver (I prefer magnetic nut driver. I prefer Cryrig, Noctua and Phanteks mounts, but only because they have thumb nuts / bolts. tongue.gif

The R1 Ultimate is not the same as R1 Universal. Both use same fin packs but Universal heatpipes are formed so front of pipes are 4.5mm closer to CPU center. This allows the think XT140 fan to fit and only be 48.5mm forward of center CPU. R1 Ultimate with XT140 is 53mm.

I know you guys ALWAYS want the low down on the BIGGEST and Best Air Coolers for your cpu's, so I wanted to ask this question.

Is there an ultimate "stand-up" air cooler that hits 125mm (MAX) in height and doesn't spread itself all over the motherboard?

It's for a loaded SilverStone FT03 Case so space isn't all that grand. Just need an efficient BUT silent air cooler for my 1150 Gene. Any suggestions?
