[Appraisal] i7-4790K 5.1GHz boot

I would like to know how much I could get for the CPU in sig. It is a very good clocker and I remember booting at 5.1GHz (even 5.2GHz but I need to check again). I don't have the proper cooling to test it at that speed although but it ran 4.8GHz on air fine. 4.9 starts to get toasty and I never run my CPU above 75C. I don't need it to be faster than 4.2GHz and ran only at that speed for the whole year I owned it. So it still has 2 years of warranty with intel and I still got the box.

The temperature are quite good, much better than what I was anticipating with the whole thermal paste fiasco. I am sure if you got the balls to delid, you could run it at higher speed with no problem.
The 5GHz test I did was during the winter, ambient in my bedroom at 2C redface.gif

Sounds like a nice chip, probably show a few completed benches @ 4.8/4.9 when you go to sell it. 2 degrees celcius in your bedroom, yikes!

Good idea, what about the price then?
Also, what bench would you run? I am planning to sell everything (CPU, mobo and RAM). Ram can do 2.4GHz with relatively nice timing. I am afraid that Win10 will be tied to the combo so I wonder if that could count in the deal? First time I am trading W10 hardware... I guess I will lose my free upgrade but I still have a W8 key (now I see why the upgrade was free!).

M$ make you try then when you upgrade you're forced to buy a W10 key to keep using it.
