When the new 4TB Samsung EVOs were first listed, they immediately showed several thousand reviews. Seriously? kookoo.gif

This. This absolutely drives me nuts.

"oh this product was given to me for free or at a discount and doesn't affect my review".

This wont change anything, it will only change who pays and who gets paid. Amazon Vine is eliminating the competition. You will still see these kinds of reviews, it will just be sponsored by Amazon solely now.

I agree with others, it should just be tied to your account. You should only be allowed to review things bought and paid for. Of course Amazon will never drop the Vine program as they make money from it.

I dont trust most reviews from Amazon and havent for years. I love the service and have been a prime member for years...but I get my reviews from 3rd parties and other sites and then buy at Amazon because of the prices, free shipping and easy returns/service.

It used to be you could filter items by 4 stars and up and be pretty much sure that you were getting a quality product but since the "received item for a discount" guys started showing up the star rating became next to useless. "Unbiased review" yeah right...

The article says they're stopping the practice but not removing the existing reviews. I wish they would at least make them not count toward the overall rating.
And I distrust the "Vine" reviewers just slightly less than the third-party ones.

I was given a free USB 5 port charger by "Arctic" to review. It went pop after I tried to charge my PS4 controller with it..... I've also been given a few miniature Bluetooth headsets to review which can barely pick up your voice when outside....mad.gif

I watched a video a week ago talking about this exactly. It showed stats that reviews from those who received the item for free was like 95%+ more likely to receive a 5 Star rating over anything else, and honestly if you look at a lot of these people who do these reviews in exchange for getting the item for free they will almost exclusively have nothing but 5 Star ratings for everything.
I don't believe those UNBIASED reviews, how can't you be biased when you are receiving items for free? Of course you will give 5 stars otherwise they will stop giving you free items.

It's GIMME 5 STARS IF YOU WANT MORE FREE ITEMS, nothing more, nothing less.
