CPU Cooler Question - Page 2

No.. I mean, this...

Oh...can't tell from the pic if it's just a stain / corrosion or a broken vapour chamber. If the chamber is broken, the cooler will not function as intended. It's not user repairable either. Could try a test mount and if the temps are unacceptably high, likely the cooler is defective.

I suggest you do not buy a new heatsink.
Right now you lack enough intake to bring in cool air. With only one fan (one behind HDD cage do not count) just not enough.
Do you have any side fans installed? You can also try to run the heatsink fan as pull and leave fan top side panel off too allow air to pass through.
Lower side is mainly for GPU, which is in the wrong spot and mostly blow out the rear.

If you can mod your case to remove the optical bay and affix some more fans in that area, which modding the optical bay plates so air can get through.

My guess it will work just fine.

That looks like just a lack of nice shiny plating on the corner area, not something broken.

I would mount it up and see what it does. I'll be a cat's tail it works a treat. biggrin.gif

If I may ask, which cooler is this?
