O heck! I be down for that. Can't wait. I already do WUs with my 1090T in the folder/boinc rig.

I may check GRUPID out. I tend to try balance between medical and stuff like science on space.

That's awesome... Here's hoping it's a LOT more efficient compared to Asteroids' GPU client... Oh, and there's also an Intel IGP one too, because I'm nuts.

Asteroids' GPU client is in its infancy (it started in end of 2013 , early 2014). GPUGRID/Einstein@Home have been using GPUs for a while now

I don't think running Milkyway is a good idea unless you have a Tahiti (HD 7970/HD7950/HD7870XT/R9 280X/R9 280) due to double precision reliance.

Asteroids seems fine to me. It fully utilizes my 970 in Windows and I only need to run 1 WU. E@H needs 3x to get to 90%. MW needs several since they are so small and theres a good chances that 2 of 3 WUs could be completed at once.

My issue is Windows gets rather sluggish when the Asteroids@Home gpu client is running, and sometimes certain inputs will take a few seconds to register or even worse will be ignored.

That actually means it is efficient. Its using ALL your GPU and extra work to update your monitor is behind some crunching work. FAH Core21 does this as well, but not other cores that don't utilize the GPU up to 99%. Optimized collatz can make my PC unbearable and really frustrating to use.

Odd, I've never noticed such happening with core 21's on my end, but then again I don't fold anywhere near as much as I used to. Such definitely happens with and optimized Collatz on mine, hence why with the 980 I had to dial a few things back so I could still use my rig.

Either way, if I had a dedicated rig for Asteroids I suspect I'd he a lot happier about, and form of sluggishness on my computer tends to get me to look at other options (it's also why I only run six threads max on my 4770k)

I mainly see it with videos on Core21 WUs so not as bad as collatz. It is one 'benefit' at running E@H on my desktop as it only gets to about 90% GPU util.

GPUs don't have interrupts like CPUs so the queue must purge/complete before a command to update a monitor can be completed. With Low/Idle priority I usually don't see issues with 100% CPU usage.

One of the things I am digging about F@H is the gpu client keeps going when different users log on. With boinc as soon as another user logged onto a computer the gpu went missing.

This is a very good thing for me because a bunch of my computers are used by different people throughout the day. I wont have to go reset them after the business day is over.

BTW I jumped like 300 spots in one day folding LOL, here I come suckas biggrin.gif
