[The Verge] Pixel ‘phone by Google’ announced - Page 7

Investigating the Sony sensor found in this phone it seems almost identical to 6P. As far as introduction date its older than S7 Sony sensor.

I think they are great. I've always had a Nexus phone. The price is fair - these are flagship phones with great specs. The huge Nexus 6 was $649 for the 32GB model, so this pricing is not out of line. And if the camera is that good, all the better. The issue I have with my 5x (16GB model) is that I am restricted on space and always have to delete the old photos and videos (after backing up in "high quality"). With the unlimited original quality Photos uploading, that solves that issue and I think most people's issues with space on a phone.

As for the other products, looks cool, but I am too much of a tinkere and DIY to have something do everything for me.

your right, but Google says they have tweaked the camera software and algorithms greatly over the 6P apparently
post #64 of 195
After seeing that these things will start at $649 and only go up from there, I can say I am disappointed as rumors suggested less than this. Wanted to replace my M9 with this but I just can't afford it (I had read in a few places where they would price match the market value of the Nexus). Guess I am stuck with it until someone makes a phone that I don't hate. frown.gif

So tired of proprietary nonsense and terrible cameras on my phones!

Afterthought: All the computational camera stuff is probably to make up for HTCs recent rep for making terrible cameras/camera firmware. I'm not even sure mine has image stabilization.

I was really hoping for something better. Like better than a Nexus 6 that I still have. But nope. I will spend my money elsewhere

Going to spend my money on a OnePlus 3 and try that out

Really sad to see the Nexus line end. I had my Nexus 5 for 3 years before it finally failed, and now have a 5X. Not sure where I'll go next... It's going to be very hard to find a reasonably priced phone that's always on the newest version of Android. frown.gif

With Nexus dead, and this phone being $750 bucks with the protection plan for a 32GB version, you're better off going with an HTC 10, which is the unsung flagship this year. Expandable storage, you can root and ROM it, the camera is solid, and it has a headphone jack. It's also 200 less than the Pixel or iPhone.
how does this phone have the best "Sony" camera while Xperia XZ claims it's got the best camera ever ?!

I agree that the HTC 10 is probably the best Android phone this year but I don't know where you're getting your prices. Right now HTC has a sale on so the phone is $549 but that makes it $100 less than both the iPhone and the Pixel which come in at $649. Once that sale ends (in 3 days) it goes right back up to its original price of $699, which is more expensive than both.
