Everything I had in the machine was well above average but the PSU. After researching and exhausting possibilities I cam here and asked about a very good PSU and the majority said Seasoninc x750 Gold +80 was the choice.

So many many months later i ordered one and a installed it and have never had a power issue since.

Now it is on this new updated machine running the AMD 8370 with the TUF Sabertooth 990FX R3.0 with the MSI GTX-1060 6GB X Gamer GPU. 32 GB Gskill Ripjaw Z series.

In short if you can afford to update to a Quality PSU do so. PSU is the main line defense to all you pc components. If it ripples, spikes, brownouts, and all is all power fluctuations you can bet something in the PC is going the get Toasted.

Save a 120- 150 for a Gold or Platinum PSU. check review. If you try everything else at default setting and can't get stable then I would say PSU.

Cheers!

It's true there are plenty of expensive PSUs out there that are no good, but a 700W PSU for 35, whether that's £35 or $35, is going to be awful.

Also, 80 Plus isn't necessarily all it's cracked up to be. [HARDOCP] Why 80 PLUS® is Irrelevant to You When Buying a PSU

EDIT: Just seen the PSU is only 520W. For some reason I thought it was a 750. Still, 520W should be enough @stock. For overclocking 550W+ would be better.

What's your cooling setup?
What are your idle and load temps?

I'm cooling my CPU passively with a Silverstone Heligon HE02(although the 120mm case fan is right next to it). The temperature is definitely not the problem though, in idle the temperature is below 30C and even under hours of stress testing it never goes above 60C. When I ran the CPU at 4,5GHz and the vcore at 1,325V it ran significantly hotter though. It was around 40-45C in idle and could go up to around 80C during stress testing.

If you check my specs and look up my PSU you'll see it's 80+ Platinum smile.gif.

Those stock temps sound fine but 80C load when overclocked sounds too high to me! I wouldn't allow my CPU over 63C. Mind you, I use AMD and I've heard Intel will survive higher temps (perhaps an Intel user can clarify?).

Could you try booting with just the onboard graphics, no graphics card, and see if the main issue still occurs?

If he's only hitting 80° during a stress test, I think he's good. It's a bit high but not deadly. It will certainly throttle down long before it burns up.

Does the case HDD LED come on when you boot the computer? Intel is good to 90-100c stock not overclocked with more voltage.

Double check PLL over voltage isn't enabled.
