I use machine for gaming.

If it is primarily a gaming rig, most games won't put nearly the stress prime does on all 8 cores. Despite what a lot of people believe however , more cores do help in a great many games. Depending on the settings, Crysis 3 and some of the battlefield games can push 8 cores past 80% usage . In my experience those are probably the most stressful games on the 8 core Vishera.

have you installed the hotfixes for windows 7 and amd fx cpu's
http://www.overclock.net/attachments/13204

a fan on the back of your board might help

do you have apm and hpc options in bios?

instead of disabled for llc you may need to find the right setting so you get minimum vdroop

edit: find this page it might help

Just because it has a TDP of 125w does not mean it uses 125w.  125 TDP is the amount of heat it will generate at stock.  An 8350 stock can use over 200 watts.

Installed hotfixes, I got fan on backof board and above CPU and evo 212 on cpu blowing air to back of board, also one on side blowing air on VRMs.

I have apm options, 4 of them 3 are disabled one is for powering off or something like that. regarding HPC i dont know what that is and couldnt find it in bios.
LLC only gives me option enable/disable

Il check this topics u linked asap

Sorry but your M5A87 can't take the FX-8350, the "added" support on old motherboards doesn't work really well, even some 970 have troubles with the FX-8350/70. You can try undervolting and use it at 4.0Ghz. thumb.gif
The m5a97 evo will do the job, personally I will not spend too much on a platform AM3 +

Your motherboard only has 4+1 power phase which is frankly garbage for overclocking an AMD Bulldozer or Piledriver.
I used to run an Asus M5A97 (4+2 phase) with an FX 6100 and couldn't get beyond 4.4Ghz even though everything was well within tolerance. These cheap boards just cant cut it.

I switched to the Sabertooth 990FX r2.0 with the FX 6100 and went straight to 5.0Ghz on it without gradually stepping up the speed. My 8320 on the same board runs 24/7 overclock over 5.0Ghz.

I wonder what's the physics behind this wink.gif

This is VRM overheating induced throttling and nothing else. A 4+1 phase VRM, especially an inefficient one (D-Pak fets) like this is not going to work properly on high power parts like this. It is not about the power the CPU draws, but about the current it draws. On 32nm parts the current is higher at the same power, since the voltage is lower by the process nature (I = P / V).
