I wouldn't be surprised to see this, and honestly from Nvidias point of view it makes a lot of sense. A lot was held back in the 10 series. Sure, there is the Titan X, but as a $1200 GPU I can't imagine adoption was too high. That leaves only one GPU with even GDDR5X and all of them being based on the GP104 GPU. It's shaping up to be the 600/700 series all over again, and we all saw how well that milking project worked out for them. The whole 600 series was based on GK104 except for the Titan. With no competition in sight, they might as well stretch Pascal through a couple series. It sucks for us, but until AMD is a player in the high end again, it's going to continue to suck for us.

I wouldn't say that.

Putting aside prices and focusing purely on performance, Titan Pascal already destroys 1070 by 60%. That is it's power. Is what I'm asking for really that unrealistic?

So if nVidia's roadmap even has the slightest hint of truth to it (which Pascal has shown it does), then Volta flagship should be more than capable of the performance I'm after.

As the 1080 TI hadn't come out yet, I don't see a pascal refresh coming any time soon.

So if the fastest single card at the moment can't run games at 1440p 144FPS then what do you think the odds are that Volta will be able to with newer games continuously pushing the envelope? And even if it can how long will it be able to? A year? Two? Less?

Never be afraid to dream but at least try to remain within the realm of realism.rolleyes.gif

No new card has ever run new titles at 144fps why would volta be any different?
Maybe there HBM 2 will make a difference. Though wait and see if they even let Volta use it since Tesla get first dibs on it.

Speculations nothing more.

I speculate pricing as follows:
Titan MM $two family cars
2080Ti $one family car
2080 $2080
2070 $1570
2060 $1060
2050 $550

Consumer plays the biggest role of all. If we don't play, there is no market.

Nvidia has adopted a gpu strategy that mirrors the updating that phones & TV get every year.

We're funding this for them. If we don't want to do that, the answer is simple. Don't buy one.
