[3dcenter] How nVidias GeForce 2000 Series (Pascal Refresh) might look - Page 9

There were rumors of 2.5Ghz before so maybe these series cards are the ones that will hit those numbers. Also hoping that nvidia put out a 600mm2 behemoth.

Highly doubtful when these cards on LN2 can only do 2.5ghz.

Too bad it can't tho, so joke's on them. 480 is gonna continue to close the gap, Pascal is kinda "spent" already. If you ask me, that's a good thing tho.But I upgrade the GPU every 12 months or so.

I'd be happy to do an Office 360 type rental pay each year £80 a year rental on a GPU like iChill X3 GeForce GTX 1070. After the year I would pick the updated model better still if they could do something on a cloud platform that would be great, Virgin are doing 200 Mbps cable broadband...

You mean you'd like to rent a GPU ?

I definately will be buying the refreshed line though.

This is the reason why I went with the GTX 1070s to minimize depreciation.
I'm in for a full Titan chip card though. SLI is getting neglected with Microsoft games. Can't take a chance by buying anything slower than the top card.

Absolutely just give me a 1070 for £80-100 quid after 12 months I pick something else like the updated 1070 again for 100. That way 3 years costs me about £300, my iChill GeForce GTX 1070 cost me £400. I get out of the hassle of having to sell it on eBay and deciding the best time to sell. Every 12 months I get the next iteration or the rental rate should drop down a bit if I keep for another 12 months. At the end of the day a GPU is a means to an end, to play a game with great graphics and awesome effects (said in a chessy americano accent), no need to get attached to it. Don't understand the fan-boys...Ain't been a great year for gaming only bought 2 games this year GTA 5 and Deus EX. Hitman when they finish it. I'm waiting for the Amazon gaming cloud to come online you can choose the quality you want play at. I want to be able to say put me on the ultra@1080P@min 60 fps package, they vary the hardware for that. Deus EX need more, GTA 5 needs less. It should all be centered around user experience not the hardware. Like I said I'm a gamer not a hardware hoarder, it's all about UX. Need a revolution in gaming services, hopefully the cloud and cable internet (now upto 200mbps) will disrupt the current buy hardware model/stale thinking:D...

That would take them like 4 years just to break even before they would make profit renting that gpu out lol.  Does not sound like a good plan on their part.

I used to work at high end jewellers when i was student. We used to sell swiss luxury and fine watches. The company used to get them at 50% of what they used to sell them at, this is not uncommon for the big high-end Jewellers. We could knock off max 20% for a repeat purchaser and upto 10% for any watch over 5K GBP with the managers permission...If someone Amazon would come to the party they can purchase big volumes and rent over their market-place 1080, 1080T and Titan class...Pricing is illustrative...

Yeah.

And who would keep renting a $100 1070 a year later when the new cards had been released? They'd have volume sitting on a shelf after returning exactly $100 on an investment much more expensive than that.

I got my 1070 for cheap (US$330) so I guess if i resell them a year later it wont depreciate too much (In my place it cost US$520 for FE and those branded 1070 like G1 etc)

So you can consider that as "renting" I suppose
