Nice octopus on the back o' that screen though tongue.gif

As long as people think that 8K is restricted somehow they'll just keep buying what exists.

There's no reason that DP1.3 couldn't have been made to adopt full 8K/120hz/HDR, other than that manufacturers don't want to start making those before they sell a bunch of monitors of every resolution inbetween.

When I test my vision for the perception of jaggies, 8K 30" viewed from three feet comes out to as the ideal pixel density (just hitting the point where jaggies blur out), so 27" is slightly more dense than it needs to be, but I'll take it.

Edit: Note that "the perception of jaggies" is a secondary issue, the point is that if you can see a digital image clearly enough to perceive jaggies that means that you're not coming close to the "maximum" amount of detail that you can perceive (which is not to say that 8K 30" is some sort of absolute maximum, but it's probably the last practical increase in screen sharpness in terms of cost/benefit ratio).

No. You have to be careful on what you read when it says "capable" etc. You have to strip away color depth to get some high resolutions to "work" over these horrid connectivity standards we have. In the traditional (full color space 4:4:4), you would need 4x DP 1.4 ports for 8K @120 Hz.

DP 1.3/1.4 will quickly become inadequate, and after two years of DP 1.3 being "released", there isn't a single device out there capable of accepting a DP 1.3/1.4 signal. That's how pathetic the display connectivity industry is.

More like how non-mainstream connectivity is. HDMI 2.0 launched like in 2015 and all TV's ship with it.

So monitors with dp 1.3 aren't dp 1.3 signal?  Im not understanding this, i don't know much about connectivity standards.

HDMI 2.0 is only the speed of DP 1.2, so it doesn't help at all.

There are zero DP 1.3 displays on the market. The rumblings are now not until 2H 2017.

I blow peoples' minds with my 4k 27" ... "the human eye can't see pixels that small" I have no idea what I'd do with an 8k... besides play farming simulator! Absurd amount of resolution.... you could play Global Thermonuclear War at 3 miles to a pixel on that thing!

I hate when some people say that 4k cannot be in 27"-28" there is so much difference and I am sure that 8k on such inches would be even more awesome! I would never buy a Pc monitor higher then 30"-32" that's for sure! Even that is too much when sitting 80cm in front of it.
