Nvidia completely CPU (FX-8370) bottlenecked while AMD is not (that much).

That Async picture tho... From = Off biggrin.gif Thanks google translate!

GamersNexus pulled their review as it was invalid.
Quote:
We have discovered a few issues with the Gears of War 4 testing that require a revisit to the game. We are working diligently to perform those tests now, and have temporarily unpublished the original content while we work to learn more about the title.

Our apologies for the inconvenience as we work through some new tests with the game. These are important to the results, and we believe them to be critical enough to put a pause on our original content delivery.

Stay tuned!

Think Computerbase is one of the only sites to test with both updated AMD and Nvidia drivers, plus the most thorough testing too. Good on them.

Fury X is beasting @ 4K via gamegpu & compbase.

FYI, in that gamernexus video he's using older drivers and not the new hotfix driver from AMD that gamegpu & compbase are using.

Edit: Good on gamernexus for pulling their comparison to update

For a tech site to test hardware with undated drivers it's just a click bate.

Under DX12, AMD and nVidia flip, in the sense that the CPU overhead issue is transferred to nVidia, since they lack a hardware scheduler. And with async enabled, the CPU use goes even higher for nVidia. AMD once again gains more with async, although I bet they could gain even more if it was not programmed to work on nVidia as well.

Async Compute: Enables asynchronous compute pipelines to improve GPU processing speed. Commands can be queued asynchronously (without reliance upon one another) in the same way that asynchronous web development impacts page loading (e.g. allowing scripts to execute in parallel, rather than sequentially). This will leverage dedicated hardware units and new architecture low-level algorithms to reduce burning cycles as assets load.

The plot thickens....

wth.gif indeed. Let me explain biggrin.gif. Redlining for the 980ti isn't working here. The fury X is simply more efficient and the results of the Fury X (at 1050Mhz) are on par, if not better then the 980TI (at around 1477MHz at ideal conditions) at a much lower clock rate.

Nice. Looks like we should see some decent gains on the Fury X with a driver update - this is typical given the circumstances though !

Looking forward to playing this in a couple weeks!

In terms of visuals though how does Gears 4 fair up? Any members screens at 4k?

Eh, its still UE4 as far as IQ is concerned.

It's not a game built from the ground up on DX12 though. I recall a video way back when a Horde was like 100's of those things rushing forward on screen. It was some sort of tech demo if I recall correctly. But I haven't seen anything implemented yet using opengl/dx11.

But yes I do expects some nice improvements after Radeon 16.10.1 drivers that were released yesterday.

Edit Found it!
