If the majority likes it, doesnt mean its all that good.

GTA V is far from being a perfect game, its the GTA with the worst (weakest) story-line in the franchise.

The call of duty games rarely go on sale either.
CoD installments don't top Steam's best selling charts week in, week out for over 1 year, either.

I'm sorry GTA V's wasn't all you expected it to be, but the truth is it's the, or one of the, best games ever made. This statement is backed by statistics and technology. Yours is backed by your subjective opinion, mostly because it's focused on its story, which is always a polarizing aspect of any game.

In fact, if i remember correctly, GTA IV ran pretty poorly on high-end hardware, for a graphical payload that was not commensurate, at the time, with GTA V's in its era's paradigm.

A Titan X for 60fps max settings @1440p? Man that is depressing. My 1080 is crying @1440p max settings right now. Looks like I certainly don't have to worry about it hitting 144 fps which is my monitors refresh rate.

I didn't realize that technology is what makes a game good. Not the story or gameplay mechanics, but the technology. rolleyes.gif

GTA V was definately a letdown mechanically and gameplaywise, but when it comes to worldsize, loading times in the game and optimisation, you can't deny that it set a new high.

LMAO you guys serious? GTA IV outside the DLC was complete garbage. Tried hard telling a compelling story and failed even harder at it. Attempted to make Nico look more humane in a segment then had him murder 50 people in cold blood in the next. Don't even know what GTA IV wanted to be. Was a step back from San Andreas in almost every way except driving and shooting. Missions were complete garbage and for the most part unoriginal. Chase guy, kill guy. Don't even know how many times I did that.

GTA V wasn't great either and far from Vice City/San Andreas but at least it knew its identity and the devs kept the story somewhat consistent and really went all in with the over-the-top crazy missions. Too many of them were just mundane and boring but GTA V was much better than GTA IV. By far the worst game in the series. At least the mission design, the meat and bones of GTA was good in GTA V. Can't say the same about GTA IV except for a couple of stand-out missions like Three-Leaf Clover.

Not the best performance out there but definitely not awful. Did these guys downclock their cards or mixed up their 1080's with 680's?

Just did a 10 minutes benchmark driving around the city and fighting people.

Min: 49
Max: 61
Avg: 58

1440p/Max(High) settings/60fps cap.

A game is comprised of many aspects. Pretending otherwise is saying it'd be fine to be playing modern games with graphics from 1990, as long as the story was good enough.

GTA V's story may not appeal to you. It's certainly not my favorite. And it took a replay to finally start liking Franklin. But on matters objective, GTA V wins, hands down. Incredibly big and detailed open world with almost no filler, irreprehensible voice acting, varied array of characters, lots of different things to do, lots of "lore", excellent graphics with great performance, good physics, etc. I could stand here all day finding reasons why it's peerless.

It took 2 years to get to PC, but it beats what happened to Mafia III and many other ports.

Well like you said GTA V took 2 years. Take hardware from that are already 2 years older if GTA V came in 2013 and much worse code and it would have been similar to GTA IV.
